The Wemo Smart Dimmer with Thread, WDS070 moves your Wemo® wall switches from a WiFi-based product to the newest and more stable Thread technology.  It is a HomeKit®-only product to enhance your HomeKit ecosystem.

HomeKit is an Apple-developed ecosystem that allows control of multiple home automation brand products using a single app.

4.  What is Thread?

Thread is a low-power mesh networking technology protocol designed to connect all the devices in your home.  It creates a mesh network by making each device in your arsenal an access point.  A Thread-enabled device will act as a mini-hub, which means you don’t have to deal with third-party hubs.  It supports over 250 devices with multiple hops even if you have a well-developed smart home.

  • CFL:  150W maximum total load

The maximum load is based on the total power usage of all bulbs connected to the Wemo Dimmer WDS070.  Only a single type of bulb should be used with the dimmer.  Using mixed bulb types can cause the Wemo Dimmer WDS070 to function incorrectly or not at all.

A 7W minimum load is required when using the Wemo Dimmer WDS070.

Yes, but functionality will be limited.  The Wemo Dimmer WDS070 requires an iOS device that can run the Home app and has Bluetooth connectivity to be controlled without using a Home hub.  You will be limited to local control only and will only be able to control ON/OFF and dimming functions.  You will not be able to create automation or control the Wemo Dimmer WDS070 remotely without a Home hub.

  • Actual:  This is the actual amount of power that the bulb consumes when in use.
  • Equivalent:  This is the amount of power a similar incandescent bulb would consume to output the same amount of light that a bulb can produce.

20.  Can the Wemo Dimmer WDS070 be used in a 3-way wiring configuration?

No.  The Wemo Dimmer WDS070 is a single-pole switch and cannot be wired in a 3-way configuration

2.  How do I reboot the Wemo Dimmer WDS070? 

The reboot button is located on the front of the Wemo Dimmer WDS070.  Press and hold the button for 2 seconds to reboot.

NOTE:  If for some reason the reboot button isn’t working, you can turn OFF the power at your electrical panel for 3 seconds to force a reboot.


3.  How do I perform a factory restore on the Wemo Dimmer WDS070?

Press and hold the reset button located on the front of the Wemo Dimmer WDS070 for 6 seconds to restore.

4.  What is the purpose of the pull-out tab on the front of the Wemo Dimmer WDS070?

This is the power cut-OFF tab.  It is used when changing a bulb connected to the Wemo Dimmer WDS070.  Pull this tab out to cut power flow from the Wemo Dimmer WDS070 and replace your bulb.  Push the tab back in when finished to allow power to flow again.  To know more, click here

NOTE:  Pulling this tab out does not power down the Wemo Dimmer WDS070, it only cuts power flow out of the Wemo Dimmer WDS070.
