The screw-in method is the standard installation method used for years with most light switches and outlets.
Step 1: Using a set of pliers, bend the wires into a hook shape and place them around their applicable screw terminals one at a time.
Step 2: After placing a wire, use a screwdriver to tighten the screw and secure the wire connection in place.
NOTE: Per Underwriter Laboratories (UL) regulations, it is recommended that the screw should be tightened to 1.2 Newton Meters (1.2 Nm) of torque force.
Installing using the push-in method
The push-in method is used on more modern light switches. On the back of the Wemo Dimmer WDS070 are holes that can accept the wire.
Step 1: Using a set of pliers or wire strippers, remove 9/32 inches of insulation from the wire and make sure it is straight.
Step 2: Insert the wire into the applicable hole on the back of the Wemo Dimmer WDS070.
NOTE: Each terminal has two holes, either hole can be used when pushing in the wire as long as you are connecting the wire to the correct terminal.
Step 3: After the wire is pushed in all the way, use a screwdriver to tighten the screw. Gently pull on the wire to ensure it is securely held in place.
