HARDWARE INFORMATION

1. What are the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs?
 
The OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs refer to the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Flex RGBW and the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Tunable White 60 Bulb that you can use to decorate your home interior and even beautify your outdoor environment with the colorful lighting effects of the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Gardenspot Mini RGB.  Using the Wemo Link and the free Wemo App allows you to manage the lights anywhere and control each light individually or as part of a group using your existing Wi-Fi® and mobile internet.  Get to know each by clicking any of the links below:

2. How can I make my OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ bulbs work with the Wemo App?
 
The OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs require the Wemo® Link to operate on your Wi-Fi.  If you have the starter set, it already includes a Wemo Link in the package.  But if you already have a Wemo Link in your Wi-Fi, you can connect your OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs to that.
 
3. I have an existing Wemo Link.  Can I add another?
 
No.  This is NOT currently supported.  You may start to see error messages.  Unless you replace the Wemo Link, you should reset the bulbs and reconfigure with the new Wemo Link.  If you continue to get the error message, just use one Wemo Link, reset all devices and reconfigure again.  To learn how to reset and reconfigure your OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs, click the links below:

4. What devices are compatible with the Wemo App if I have the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs?
 
The free Wemo App is available for Android™, iOS, and Kindle™ operating systems and works on multiple smart devices simultaneously.  The OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs require any iOS device running v7 or higher including iPhone®, iPod® and iPad® and Android device running 4.0 or higher.
 
NOTE:  You can download the free Wemo App from the App Store® for iOS devices or Google Play™ store for Android devices.
 
5. How long is the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Tunable White 60 Bulb’s life expectancy?
 
Its bulb life will reach up to 18.2 years based on hours of daily usage.
 
6. What is the product warranty of OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs?
 
The OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs have 1-year limited warranty.

8. Do the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs require the OSRAM branded LIGHTIFY Bridge?
 
No.
 
9. Can I cut the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Flex RGBW light strip?
 
Yes.  You can cut if the 2 ft. length of a strip is too long.  There are designated cut points on the strip.  Once a strip is cut, it cannot be reconnected and no other strip can be connected to it.
 
10. What devices can I group or pair with my OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs in the Wemo App?

 
  • The OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Tunable White 60 Bulb can be grouped with ANY Wemo® LED Bulb or the OSRAM BR20 Bulb.
  • The OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Flex RGBW can ONLY be grouped with other Flex light strips.
  • The OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Gardenspot Mini RGB can ONLY be grouped with other Gardenspot lights.  
11. Can the Wemo App control the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs if they are not connected to the Wemo Link?
 
No.
 
12. There seems to be a “crack” found in the casing of my OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Tunable White 60 Bulb, F5Z0596.  Is this a defect?
 
No.  That is actually a vent that is cut into the metal casing of the bulb.  Some units have artifacts left from the milling process. 
 
13. What are the two small holes of the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Gardenspot Mini RGB, F5Z0598 for?
 
The two small holes become usable as soon as the ground mount spike is removed.  In these holes, you can use the included screws to mount the lights to a surface such as a wall or deck.

 
14. What is the color temperature?
 
The color temperature of both the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Tunable White 60 Bulb and OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Flex RGBW is measured in kelvin degrees and goes from Warm (2700 K) to Cool (6500 K).
 
NOTE:  The OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Gardenspot Mini RGB has no color temperature options, only color selection.
 
15. Can I control the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs when the internet is down?
 
Yes, but only locally.  Once your internet is restored, you can control your OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulbs remotely.
 
NOTE:  As long as your Wi-Fi is working even though the internet is down, for example, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is down but the router is working locally, you can still manage the bulbs through the Wemo App.  If your Wi-Fi is down, for example, your wireless router stops working, you cannot manage the bulbs via the Wemo App.
 
16. Can I pair my OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb again even if it has already been paired before?
 
Yes.  Take note that once your OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb is paired, it will no longer be detected during a scan.  To pair again, you need to reset the bulb, not the Wemo Link.  To learn how to reset, click the links below:

17. What will happen if my OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb is unpaired?
 
Your OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb will turn into its default color mode (white) and default brightness (100%).
 
19. How flexible is the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Flex RGBW?
 
The OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Flex RGBW is flexible but if they are bent at a very sharp angle, the internal wiring can break.  This usually results in the bulb showing only a single color instead of changing colors.

4. How does the Sleep Fader work?
 
On your Wemo App’s Devices tab, tap a bulb on your list of devices.  The Sleep Fader screen will appear.  Select a countdown time to turn OFF the bulb or enter a custom setting (1m-60 minutes) and tap Go to sleep.  For example, you select 30m, within 30 minutes the bulb will automatically start to dim and eventually turn OFF at a 30-minute mark.  You can use this feature when getting ready to go to sleep.

2. How do I know which OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb is which if I left the default name?
 
To know which OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb is which when using their default name, turn OFF all bulbs and only leave one ON at a time during a scan.
 
3. How do I adjust the Dim settings?
 
Use the dim bar to adjust the dim settings for the selected bulb.  Notice as you change the dim settings, the dim percentage number will adjust as well.
 
4. How do I manage my devices remotely?
 
Tapping the Power button next to your OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb will turn it ON / OFF remotely as long as you have internet access.
 
NOTE:  Wemo requires a wireless router for setup and day-to-day usage, but does not require an internet connection when you’re controlling your device within your Wi-Fi.  As long as your router is ON, your Wemo units will function normally, including any Rules that you create.  Connection issues will not affect Rules that are stored on the Wemo.  It will only affect Remote Access.
 
5. If I flip the switch to the OFF position, can I still manage my OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb?
 
No.  You need to leave the switch ON on your OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb and turn it OFF via the Wemo App to still manage it.
 
6. What should I do if my OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb is showing not connected in my Wemo App when I’m at home?
 
Make sure the power to the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb is switched to ON.  (Ex: Flip your wall switch to the ON position.)
 
7. Do I need to leave the power switch ON to the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb source even if I’m not using the bulb?
 
Yes.  In order to manage your OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb, wherever you have it set up, the source must be turned ON.  (Ex: wall switch flipped to the ON position)
 
8. What could be the problem if my OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb is showing not connected and grayed out in the Wemo App?
 
Make sure the switch to where the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb is connected is set to ON.  To turn OFF the bulb, you must use the Wemo App.  If you manually flip the switch to OFF, the Wemo App will not detect and manage your bulb.
 
9. Do I need to use the Wemo App to turn OFF / ON the OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb?
 
Yes and no.  In order to manage the bulb, the source of power to the bulb must be set to ON.  You can use the Wemo App to turn it OFF.  However, you can still manually turn OFF / ON a bulb by using the power switch of the device where your bulb is connected.  Keep in mind that if you manually turn it OFF, the Wemo App will not detect your bulb.
 
10. If my internet goes down, will my OSRAM LIGHTIFY™ Bulb continue to work?
 
Yes.  If there is any Wi-Fi disconnection or if the bulb is removed from the power outlet, the bulb will continue to work but as a regular bulb only.  You will not be able to manage it remotely via the Wemo App until the Wi-Fi connection is working again.  However, you can manage it locally.  You can also turn it OFF / ON manually.
 
NOTE:  As long as your Wi-Fi is working even though the internet is down, you can still manage the bulb via the Wemo App.  But if your Wi-Fi is down, for example, the wireless router stops working, you cannot manage the bulb via the Wemo App.
