If your monitor is blank, says No Signal, or your laptop says Monitor not detected, follow these steps in order. Do not skip steps.
1
Check the monitor is actually ON
- Press the monitor’s Power button.
- If the screen stays black, check the monitor’s power cable is plugged in.
2
Set the monitor to the correct input (most common mistake)
Your monitor must be set to the same port you used.
- On the monitor, press Input / Source.
- Choose:
- HDMI (if you used an HDMI cable), or
- DisplayPort (DP) (if you used a DP cable)
If it is on the wrong input, it will show No Signal.
3
Check the cable connections (unplug and plug back in)
- Unplug the video cable from the dock.
- Unplug the same cable from the monitor.
- Plug it back in firmly on both ends.
Tip: Push until it feels fully seated.
4
Try a different cable (cables fail a lot)
If you have another HDMI or DisplayPort cable:
- Swap the cable.
- Test again.
Bad cables can cause “No Signal” even if everything else is fine.
5
Test with ONE monitor only
If you are using 2 or 3 monitors:
- Disconnect the extra monitors.
- Leave only one monitor connected.
- Check if the image appears.
- If it works, add the second monitor after.
6
Reconnect the dock to your laptop (host cable reset)
- Unplug the Thunderbolt cable from your laptop.
- Wait 5 seconds.
- Plug it back into the laptop.
Make sure you are using the dock’s Thunderbolt port meant for the laptop (Host port).
Troubleshooting Tips: Last quick checks if nothing works
- Try a different monitor if you have one.
- Try a different port on the dock (HDMI vs DisplayPort).
- Confirm the laptop supports video output through its USB-C/Thunderbolt port.
