Unable to connect wirelessly with an Android™ tablet

This article will guide you on how to resolve wireless connectivity issues that you may encounter with your Android™ tablet.

IMPORTANT:  For most issues concerning Wireless-N routers, the quickest and easiest workaround would be to powercycle the device.  To do this, power OFF the router by unplugging the power cord and wait for 10 seconds before plugging it back in.

If the problem still persists after performing a powercycle, you may then proceed with the other workarounds listed below:

Solution 1:  Power OFF your Android tablet, then power ON again.

Solution 2:  Disable then re-enable the Wi-Fi feature of your tablet.

Why this works:  Doing this will renew the IP address that the router is assigning to your tablet.

Step 1:
Tap on Apps at the top-right corner of the Home screen.

Solution 3:  Forget the network and re-create the wireless connection.

Why this works:  Forgetting the network will cause your Android tablet to forget the old wireless settings of your network.

QUICK TIP:  Before forgetting the network, make sure you take note of the following:
  • Wireless Network Name (SSID)
  • Wireless Security key or Passphrase
  • Encryption Type (WEP, WPA, WPA2)
Step 1:
Tap on Apps at the top-right corner of the Home screen.

You will need to reconnect your Android tablet to your wireless network since forgetting the network will cause the tablet to be disconnected from the network.  For instructions on how to connect back to your wireless network using an Android tablet, click here.

Step 4:
Tap on the name of your wireless network again, then enter your network’s wireless settings.

IMPORTANT:  Ensure that the wireless password you are using to connect is correct as some security types are case-sensitive.
