Setting up your router using the Dashboard


Belkin Routers have a built-in web-based setup page that allows users to customize and set up advanced settings.  This feature may be used to easily check, configure, and modify settings on the router.

NOTE:  Details on the troubleshooting steps and images may vary depending on your router's model number.


This article will guide you on how to set up your router using the web-based setup page.
 
Step 1:
Unplug the modem from the power outlet.

Step 2:
Connect the ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN or internet port of the router.

Step 3:
Plug both the modem and the router into a power outlet.

Step 4:
Connect your computer to one of the ethernet ports of the Belkin router.

Step 5:
In your computer, open a web browser such as Google Chrome™.
 
Step 6:
Enter "http://router" or the Belkin router's IP address in the Address bar and press [ENTER].  The default IP address of Belkin routers is 192.168.2.1 If it doesn't work, check your router's IP address.  For instructions on how to do this, click here.
 
NOTE:  If in case your Belkin router is not working as expected, you can reset it to its factory defaults.  To learn how to do this, click here.
 
Step 7:
Click User-added image
This process may take several minutes depending on your connection.
 
QUICK TIP:  In some Belkin router models, you may need to click Try my connection after the router detects your connection.
 
NOTE:  You may be asked to restart your modem or enter a username and password if your Internet Service Provider (ISP) requires it.
 
Step 8:
The router will check if a new firmware is available.

If an update is available, read and accept the License Agreement.  Click on Install update

Wait for the firmware to finish downloading and install the firmware to the router.  This may take several minutes.

Step 9:
Enter your router's Network Name, Password and your preferred Security Type.  Once done, click Save and Continue.

Step 10:
Take note of the information on the screen that comes up as these will be used to connect wireless devices to your wireless network.  Click User-added image.

Step 11:
Register your router by filling out the fields provided.  Click Complete Registration once done.

Step 12:
Click User-added image.

You will be redirected to the dashboard where you can change your router's settings.

You have now successfully set up your router.
