TROUBLESHOOTING

1. Why am I having connection issues with Android™ 4.1 after changing Wi-Fi channel?

Changing your network's Wi-Fi channel could cause problems in connecting to the Miracast Video Adapter.  This issue only exists with Android 4.1 and earlier versions.  It is recommended that you update to the latest Android versions and change the Wi-Fi channel back to the one you were originally using. You can also:

    •  Contact your device manufacturer for instructions on how to clear the Wi-Fi Direct Persistence Cache.
    •  Reset the phone to factory defaults.

2. Can I still use the Miracast Video Adapter if my TV has no USB port or the USB cable cannot reach the port?

Some TVs may not come with a built-in USB port to power the Miracast Video Adapter.  If a power outlet is close enough, consider using an AC to USB power adapter to supply 5 Volts and at least 500mA of power.  Some TVs may be too big for the provided USB cable to reach from the HDMI port to the USB port. You can substitute the provided USB cable with a longer USB cable, provided that it is a USB A to Micro USB B cable.

3. What do I do if the adapter won't fit in my TV due to insufficient space?

Due to the dimensions of the Miracast Video Adapter, some customers may have difficulty plugging it into an open HDMI port due to the design of the TV or because the TV is mounted to a wall.  To resolve this issue, an HDMI extension cable is provided to connect the TV and the Miracast Video Adapter.

4. Why is there a delay between the smart device and the TV?

Wireless technology is radio-based, which means connectivity and the throughput performance between devices decreases when the distance between devices increases. In order to determine if wireless issues are related to range, temporarily move the smart device, if possible, to 5 to 10 feet away from the Miracast Video Adapter.  If you find that range was the problem, try changing the frequency band.  You can also consider taking your smart device off your home Wi-Fi network while leaving the Wi-Fi radio ON.  Ensure also that both the Miracast Video Adapter's firmware and your smart device's software are updated with the latest version.

5. Why can't I navigate the Miracast Video Adapter's menu using my TV remote?

To be able to use the TV's remote control, both the TV and the remote need to be able to control the HDMI CEC.  For more information about this, click here.

6. Why isn't the video displaying correctly on the TV or there is no display?

If your device is not mirroring into your TV properly or there is no display at all, it could either be caused by interference or because the HDCP settings on the adapter are incorrect for your specific smart device.  Click here for more information and instructions.

7.  Why am I seeing distortion or high latency on my Sony Xperia?

The Sony Xperia will always connect to the Miracast Video Adapter on the 2.4 GHz frequency and as a result you may be experiencing high latency or distortion.  To resolve this issue, it is recommended that you connect to the Miracast Video Adapter via the 5 GHz frequency.  To do this you will need to change the Channel Selection settings in the web-based setup page.  This will allow the video adapter to choose the clearest channel to connect to, and should eliminate any latency or distortion issues.  To know how to do this, click here.

8. Why won't the Sony Xperia connect to Miracast using the Throw feature?

The Sony Xperia has a feature called Throw that allows you to wirelessly play content from your phone to other devices.  Unfortunately, this feature is not compatible with the Miracast Video Adapter and connection attempts using it will fail.

9. Why is the Display inverted when using the camera on the LG Optimus G (E975) with the Miracast Video Adapter?

The LG-E975 has a known issue that inverts the mirrored image on your TV when the Camera app is launched on your phone.  Unfortunately, this is an issue that is related to the phone's software rather than the Miracast Adapter.  This only occurs when the Camera app is running.  To resolve the issue, close the Camera app.

10. Why am I unable to connect my LG Optimus G (E975) to the Miracast Video Adapter on a 5 GHz network?

This is a common issue with the LG Optimus G.  It often will not connect to the Miracast Video Adapter if the phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network on the 5 GHz frequency. To solve this problem, do one of the following:

    •  Disconnect your phone from the 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.
    •  Switch to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
    •  Disconnect from any network you are on.  Do not disable Wi-Fi.
    •  Change the Channel Selection Priority Settings.  To know how to do this, click here.

11. What do I do if the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 and Samsung Note 8 are having lag issues when watching stored videos?

Watching a video file stored on your phone from a Video App may cause high latency on your Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300.  To fix this issue, you need to disconnect your Galaxy S3 from the Miracast Video Adapter and then reconnect to it.  For a permanent fix, consult your Samsung device manufacturer.

12. What do I do if my Samsung Galaxy S4, GT-I9500 is experiencing issues connecting to the Miracast Adapter via 2.4 GHz frequency?

The GT-I9500 model of the Samsung Galaxy S4 has been experiencing issues connecting to the Miracast Adapter via 2.4 GHz frequencies.  If you have the GT-I9500 model, you have two (2) options to resolve this issue:

1. You can update your phone's firmware via the Samsung Kies program. Contact your phone's manufacturer for help on how to do this.

2. You can connect to the Miracast Adapter via the 5 GHz frequency by following the steps detailed here.

13. What do I do If the Sony Xperia shows multiple listings for the same Miracast Video Adapter?

Sometimes the Sony Xperia will show multiple listings for the same Miracast Video Adapter.  Unfortunately, there isn't a fix for this issue.  However, selecting any of the devices in the list will still pair your phone with the video adapter as long as all of the devices in the list have the same name.

14. Which Wi-Fi network works best with the Miracast Video Adapter?

The Miracast Video Adapter works best when your device is on a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.  If you have a 5 GHz network and your device is capable of connecting to it, connect your device to the network before pairing it with the video adapter.

15.  Why is the mirrored image on my TV being cut off when using the Miracast Video Adapter?

At times the edges of the mirrored image may get cut off when using your Miracast with your TV.  Most HDTVs have a setting on the remote that adjusts the picture resolution.  You can consult the user manual or contact your TV's manufacturer to manually adjust its resolution setting until you achieve the desired effect.  Once the picture has been adjusted, the image will not be cut off on the edges of your TV.

16.  Does HCDP content play in Windows Surface devices?

When using the Windows Surface devices (Surface/Surface 2/Surface Pro 2), you may receive errors when trying to play content from the Video store application.

17.  Why doesn’t the HDMI CEC work on Sony TV model KDL-40EX640?

HDMI CEC is the technology that allows your TV’s remote to control the Miracast adapter’s web-based setup page.  Sony’s version of the technology, called BRAVIA Sync, is compatible with the Miracast adapter.

However, BRAVIA Sync on Sony’s model KDL-40EX640 is not compatible with the Miracast adapter’s web-based setup page.  However, the TV will still mirror your smart device’s screen.

18.  What should I do when changing the Wi-Fi settings on my source device disconnects it to the Miracast Video Adapter?

If you are connected to the video adapter with your source device and you need to change its Wi-Fi settings, such as connecting to a different Wi-Fi network, you may get disconnected from the adapter.  Once the Wi-Fi settings have been changed, simply reconnect to the Miracast Video Adapter to continue normal operation.

19.  What to do if I can't connect the Miracast Dongle when my router range is 192.168.16.X?

The Belkin Miracast dongle also uses 192.168.16.X, which is why the Miracast device is not able to connect dongle and router at the same time.

In order to solve this problem, please change the Local Area Network (LAN) IP address on your router to another range other than 192.168.16.X (i.e. 192.168.15.X).  Please see your router manufacturer's user manual for step by step instructions.

NOTE:  X being anything from 1-255.

20.  What should I do if Miracast disconnects when switching frequencies on Windows 8.1 devices?

If you change frequencies between the 2.4 GHz the 5 GHz networks while the Windows 8.1 device is connected to Miracast, the adapter will disconnect.
