How do I update the firmware on my HomeKit-only Wemo

A firmware is the instruction code that controls everything your Wemo® device does.  Your Wemo device’s firmware is updated periodically with bug fixes, security patches, and performance enhancements.  This helps keep your Wemo running in tip-top shape.

The HomeKit®-only line of Wemo devices update their firmware automatically with no interaction from you necessary.  Your Wemo device checks for a firmware update each day.  When an update is available, your Wemo device will download the new firmware, apply the update, and reboot.  The Wemo device will only update its firmware and reboot when the device is not in use (turned OFF).  In this way, your usage of the Wemo will not be interrupted.

This firmware update method applies to the following Wemo devices only:

  • Wemo WiFi Smart Plug for Europe, WSP080-EU
  • Wemo WiFi Smart Plug for United Kingdom, WSP080-UK
  • Wemo WiFi Smart Plug for Hong Kong, Macao and Singapore, WSP080-AH
  • Wemo WiFi Smart Plug for Korea, WSP080-KR
  • Wemo WiFi Smart Plug for Middle East, WSP080-ME
  • Wemo WiFi Smart Plug for France, WSP080-FR
  • Wemo Smart Plug with Thread, WSP100

Updating the firmware of the Wemo Stage Smart Scene Controller, WSC010 is quick and simple.  When an update is available, you will see a notification in the Home app.  For instructions on how to update the firmware of your Wemo WSC010, click here.
