HARDWARE INFORMATION

The Server Interface Modules (SIM) of the F1DP216G and F1D9232G are PS/2, USB, and Sun servers.  Below are the servers with its corresponding model numbers:
  • USB is F1DP101A-AU
  • PS/2 is F1DP101A–AP
  • Sun is F1DP101A–AL

The Dual Head KVM allows you to project your computer's display across two (2) monitors.  These monitors are connected to the console side of the KVM, allowing an extended desktop view for each computer/server connected to the KVM.  As you switch to each target, dual monitor support is provided.

Each cable that connects a computer/server to the KVM has two (2) video connectors on each side.  Therefore, each computer/server must be able to support dual monitors.  This requires the computer/server to have two (2) video ports typically requiring a PCI graphics card with two (2) video inputs or a DMS-59 port.

The wireless remote, F1DG003-RMT for the Flip is available as a spare part, and will work with the F1DG102W only.

IMPORTANT:  There are Channel 1 and Channel 2 versions of the KVM and the switch.  Using the wrong remote will not work.  Therefore, when requesting a replacement remote, always specify the required channel.  You can find the channel number on the remote itself, on a sticker under the battery lid.  The remote uses a 3 V Coin Cell Battery.  For assistance, call 1-800-223-5546 and press options 4, 1, and 2.

Your computer must have two (2) video ports to allow dual monitor support without any additional hardware.  If your computer does not have two (2) video ports, you may use a PCI graphics card with two (2) video outputs.  Connect the monitor cable to the ports on the PCI card.

Another option is to use the DMS-59 port, which allows one (1) port to provide support for dual monitors (Dual VGA or Dual DVI) that are capable of showing independent video on each screen (e.g. not a mirror image of the same data on each screen).

The USB ports on the PRO2 are USB B ports.  A USB B to USB A cable is required to feed the keyboard and mouse signals between the KVM and the connected computer(s).

The flash cables of the Pro 3 and the SMB series KVM have the same pin-out.  Of the DB9-F to RJ11 cable, only three (3) pins are wired through:
  • DB9 pin 2 to RJ11 pin A1
  • DB9 pin 3 to RJ11 pin A2
  • DB9 pin 5 to RJ11 pin A4

No.  Only the RJ45 port labeled as Ethernet Port is a 10/100 Base-T connection and therefore offers full duplex.  The Ethernet Port is the one connecting the KVM-Over-IP Switch to your network.  The other RJ45 ports are the CPU Ports that connect to the Server Interface Modules (SIM) of each connected computer and the Serial-Device Port.  None of these are true 10/100 Base-T connections. These ports simply utilize the RJ45 connection method for sending transcoded VGA & PS/2 signals.

The 19” Rack Console takes 1U of space, and is designed for use with 4-post racks.  This Rack Console can be used with 2-post racks, although additional hardware is required.

Yes.  The Belkin SMB (Cat 5) KVM Range supports DDC, offering full support for the DDC-2 function.  The DDC communication is enabled via an OSD command (F10) after which the graphics card and monitor settings will be synchronized.

The minimum dimensions of the Rack Console are 19” (W) x 29” (L) x 1.75” (H) or 482.6 mm (W) x 736.6 mm (L) x 44.5 mm (H).  The maximum dimensions of the Rack Console are 19” (W) x 40” (L) x 1.75” (H) or 482.6 mm (W) x 1016 mm (L) x 44.5 mm (H).

The minimum distance is 19.29” or 490 mm while the maximum distance is 27.95” or 710 mm.

The advanced video circuit in the Pro2 KVM supports a maximum resolution of 2048x1536 at 85 Hz.  When you are cascading, the resolution will be lower.

Since computer keyboards do not have a Mac® power button on them, you can use the Power button on the side of the Mac adapter to power ON the computer.

Yes, it is compatible.  The F1DA104Z KVM is independent of your operating system so it does not require any software.

SETUP AND CONFIGURATION

On the new SOHO series KVM, the beep can be switched ON and OFF by using the undocumented key combination Scroll Lock + Scroll Lock + B.  This should work on all the models of the new SOHO KVMs (F1DD10xL, F1DS10xJ, F1DS10xL) with the latest updated firmware.  If you do not have this version, download the firmware and update your device.  To learn how to download the firmware, click here.

The default user name and password for the KVM (F1DP108G, F1DP116G, F1DP216G, F1DP232G) are the following:

User name:  admin
Password:  SMBremote

NOTE:  The user name and password are case-sensitive.

The OmniView Pro3 KVMs have Scroll-Lock enabled as the Hot-Key by default, although eight (8) other alternatives are available via the on-screen display (OSD):
  • Num Lock
  • Caps Lock
  • Left CTRL
  • Right CTRL
  • Left ALT
  • Right Alt
  • Left WIN
  • Right WIN
The OSD of the OmniView Pro 3 KVM Range is accessed by pressing the current Hot-Key twice in rapid succession followed by the [SPACEBAR].

To reset the admin password on a Pro 3 KVM, look on the underside of the unit.  There is a small hole through which you can see two (2) contact points on the printed circuit board.  Using a piece of wire, connect these two (2) points while the KVM is switched ON.  It will beep and reset the user settings.  Only one (1) user admin with the password belkin (not case-sensitive) will remain, other users will be deleted.

NOTE:  This does not affect other KVM settings, such as computer names and Hot-Keys.

To install the PRO2 KVM to a computer, follow these steps:

Step 1:
Start up the computer that you wish to connect to the PRO2 KVM.  Make sure that the keyboard, monitor and mouse are directly connected to the computer.

Step 2:
After the operating system finishes loading, connect the PRO2 to the computer’s USB port using the USB A-to-B cable that is part of your USB KVM Cable.

Step 3:
Your computer should then recognize your PRO2 and automatically install the HID USB driver.

Step 4:
Once your computer finishes installing the USB driver, shut down your computer and remove the keyboard, monitor and mouse attached directly to the computer.

Step 5:
Restart the computer with the USB A-to-B cable connecting the PRO2 KVM to your computer.

Step 6:
Connect the keyboard, monitor, and mouse to the console ports on the PRO2 KVM.

The Default Hot-Key combination used to switch KVM ports (computers) is SCROLL-LOCK + SCROLL-LOCK.  Usually, when the SCROLL-LOCK key is pressed twice in quick succession an audible tone is heard, signifying that the firmware is responding and ready for a command.  A third key would normally compliment the double SCROLL-LOCK combination.
  • Up arrow - Switches to next Port up in sequence
  • Down arrow - Switches to next Port down in sequence
  • 1 - Switches to Port 1 (other numbers can be used)
  • SPACE - Opens the OSD of applicable models
In case the default Hot-Key combination does not respond on new installations, an alternate keyboard should be tried.  If the default Hot-Key combination does not respond like it always used to, check if any firmware upgrades have been performed.  The firmware update may have altered the default Hot-Key or corrupted the firmware that gives out a continuous audible tone.

Place the F1DN104K near the computers and use standard USB A to B cables to connect the computers to the F1DN104K.  This is to properly receive Absolute Mouse signals between the computers and the F1DN104K.  Then, use the F1D086U to only extend the video to the remote location for each computer using the KM.  An additional F1D086U is then used on the Mouse port of the F1DN104K to extend keyboard and mouse to the remote locations.  To learn more, click here.

NOTE:  This issue happens because the Absolute Mouse drivers, the cross between touch and mouse inputs, are being used on the F1DN104K.  Because the F1DN104K has restricted I/O for security reasons, issues arise when extenders such as the F1086U are used.

ADVANCED TROUBLESHOOTING

When you get an Error 5011 when trying to open a Remote Session with the SMB Remote IP Device or the SMB KVM over IP, this means that port forwarding has not been set up correctly.  The KVM or the Remote IP Device needs port 443 forwarded to it for secure HTTP access, but it also needs three (3) consecutive ports for the actual remote session.  The error occurs when these have not been forwarded.  The default port number for the first port for the Remote Session is 900.  Therefore, in the default settings of the unit, ports 443, 900, 901, and 902 should be forwarded.

No.  A Dual User PRO3 KVM and Single User PRO3 KVM cannot be cascaded to one another.

No.  Dual User KVMs cannot be cascaded.

Only one (1) remote session is supported by the F1DP108G and F1DP116 KVM.  If you use remote access from a second machine, you will be prompted whether you want to Take Over the running remote session, run a View Only session, or Cancel.  When a regular user logs on while an admin is in a remote session already, the Take Over option will not be present (a user cannot take over from an admin).  With regard to the configuration screen, that can be accessed by administrators only.  When an administrator is using the configuration screen, a second one cannot log in - the system will tell that someone else is logged on already.
