- Troubleshooting internet connection problem with your router
There are instances where you may encounter internet connection problems while connected to the Belkin router. Listed below are some workarounds that you can use depending on the scenario that best suits you:
Scenario 1: Both wired and wireless computers lost internet connection
Scenario 2: Only wired computers do not have internet connection
Scenario 3: Only wireless computers do not have internet connection
- Network selection and security
- Client TCP/IP settings
- Signal strength
- Sources of interference
One of the best solutions to resolve slow and intermittent wireless internet connection is by changing the channel of your router. The same Wi-Fi channel among devices can cause interference. You can choose a lower or higher channel to improve your Wi-Fi’s performance and reliability. To know how to change the wireless channel on your Belkin router, click here.
Distance could also be the problem if you are experiencing slow or weak wireless connection with your router. In order to determine if the wireless issues are related to range, place your computer temporarily within 10 feet from the router. To know how to fix this issue, click here.
Scenario 6: Checking the wireless adapter
Wireless adapters are the receivers of the router signal. If the wireless adapter on your computer does not detect and receive wireless signals, check if it is switched ON. Refer to your computer manufacturer’s documentation to learn how to switch ON/OFF your wireless adapter.
You may also check if the drivers of your wireless adapter are up-to-date to support the WPA™ security encryption of your router.

Scenario 8: Problems with the Firewall / Antivirus software
Firewall / Antivirus software programs oftentimes block data packets that are needed to connect to the Wi-Fi. Some of these programs have options to block incoming and outgoing communication that prevents the user to connect to the internet or to connect wirelessly.
To resolve wireless connectivity issues, you need to disable or modify the security settings of any firewall / antivirus programs on your computer. Refer to your software’s manufacturer documentation for more details.
NOTE: Your computer’s built-in firewall software may also be the reason for some wireless devices not connecting properly to your network or to the internet. For general instructions on how to disable the firewall on your computer, select your operating system below:
