Setting up the Wemo Mini using an Android device

The Wemo® Mini Smart Plug, F7C063 lets you turn electronic devices ON or OFF from anywhere using your smartphone or tablet.  This home automation device uses your existing home Wi-Fi to provide wireless control of lamps, heaters, fans, and more.  You can even set schedules for your devices and control them remotely with an active mobile internet connection.

Before you begin
 
Take note of your Wemo Mini’s default Wi-Fi name, which can be found on its product label at the back.  The name will appear as Wemo.Mini.xxx, where xxx is the last three digits of the serial number.
 

 
Requirements
  • Existing Wi-Fi 
  • Wemo App 1.17 or higher
  • Android 4.4 and higher

Step 1:  Plug in your Wemo Mini.
 
Step 2:  Wait for the status light to alternately blink orange and white.
 
Step 3:  Tap Settings on your Android and connect to the Wemo Mini’s Wi-Fi.
 
QUICK TIP:  If your Wemo Mini is not on the list, just restore it to factory defaults.  For instructions, click here.

Step 4:  Launch the Wemo App.
 
Step 5:  On the Personalize screen, set a name for your Wemo Mini.  You can also personalize your device’s image.  When you’re done making changes, tap NEXT.

Step 6:  Enter a valid email address then tap NEXT.

Step 7:  Select your home Wi-Fi and enter your password.

NOTE:  The Wemo Mini uses only the 2.4 GHz band.

Step 8:  Wait while your Wemo Mini connects.  Once complete, you will receive a Remote Access Enabled message.

Remote Access lets you control your device when you are away from home.  If the Wemo App fails to enable it, setup will still successfully finish.  You can enable it after setup by going to More > Remote Access and clicking on Enable.
