Troubleshooting Power and Charging Issues

If you're experiencing issues with charging your devices or powering on your Belkin UltraCharge Hybrid Wall Charger 35W + 10K Power Bank (BU054), please follow the troubleshooting steps below. These solutions cover the most common power and charging concerns customers may encounter.

Issue 1: The Power Bank Will Not Turn On
If your BU054 is not responding when you try to use it, please try the following:

  • Press the power button once to wake the power bank from sleep mode. The 4 LED indicators should light up to show the current battery level.
  • Check the battery level. If no LEDs light up or only the first LED flashes 5 times and turns off, the battery is fully depleted and needs to be recharged.
  • Recharge the power bank by plugging it directly into a wall outlet using the built-in foldable AC plug, or by connecting a USB-C PD charger (up to 35W) to the USB-C port or built-in USB-C cable.
  • Allow the power bank to charge for at least 15 to 30 minutes before attempting to use it again.
If the power bank still does not turn on after recharging, please contact Belkin Support for further assistance.
Issue 2: My Device Is Not Charging
If your phone, tablet, or laptop is not charging when connected to the BU054, please try the following:

  • Check the LED indicators. Press the power button once to confirm the power bank has sufficient charge. If only one LED is lit or flashing, recharge the power bank first.
  • Ensure your device is properly connected using one of the built-in USB-C cables, the USB-C port, or the USB-A port.
  • Try a different cable if you're using your own cable with the USB-C or USB-A port. A damaged or low-quality cable may prevent charging.
  • Try a different port on the power bank to rule out a port-specific issue.
  • Confirm your device supports USB-C PD or compatible protocols such as PD3.2, PPS, QC3.0, Apple 2.4, or BC1.2.
  • Wake the power bank by pressing the button once if it has entered sleep mode.
If the issue persists, please contact Belkin Support for further help.
Issue 3: My Earbuds, Smartwatch, or Other Low-Power Device Is Not Charging
Low-power accessories such as AirPods, Apple Watch, and fitness trackers draw very little current (less than 10mA), which the power bank may interpret as no device being connected. To charge these devices:

  • Connect your low-power device to the USB-C port, USB-A port, or one of the built-in USB-C cables.
  • Double-press the power button to activate Low Current Mode.
  • Confirm Low Current Mode is active. The LEDs will display a flowing animation (LED 1 to LED 4 in a continuous loop) to indicate the mode is on.
  • Your low-power device will now charge continuously for up to 2 hours, after which the power bank will automatically exit Low Current Mode to conserve battery.
If your accessory still does not charge, try a different cable or contact Belkin Support.
Issue 4: The Power Bank Turns Off While Charging My Accessory
This is normal behavior for low-power devices. The BU054 is designed to enter sleep mode automatically when it detects very low current draw to conserve battery life.

  • Activate Low Current Mode by double-pressing the power button.
  • Verify the LED flowing animation is displayed, confirming the mode is active.
  • Keep your accessory connected while Low Current Mode is active for uninterrupted charging.
Issue 5: My Device Is Charging Slower Than Expected
If your device is not charging at the expected speed, please check the following:

  • Verify the charging output. The BU054 delivers up to 35W via USB-C and up to 22.5W via USB-A for a single device.
  • Check if multiple devices are connected. When 2, 3, or 4 ports are used at the same time, the total combined output is 5V/4A (20W) shared across all connected devices.
  • Confirm the cable supports fast charging. A cable that is not rated for high-wattage charging may limit charging speed.
  • Check the ambient temperature. The power bank performs best between 0°C and 35°C. Extreme temperatures may slow down charging.
  • Allow extended charging sessions to derate. To protect the battery, the BU054 reduces output from 35W to 20W after 30 minutes (at 25°C) or 20 minutes (at 35°C). This is expected behavior and helps preserve battery life.
Issue 6: The Power Bank Slows Down or Reduces Output After 30 Minutes
This is expected behavior and not a defect. The BU054 includes thermal protection to safeguard the battery and your device:

  • At 25°C ambient temperature, the power bank maintains full 35W output for at least 30 minutes, then automatically reduces to 20W until the battery is depleted.
  • At 35°C ambient temperature, the power bank maintains full 35W output for at least 20 minutes, then automatically reduces to 20W.
  • In AC mode (when plugged into a wall outlet), no derating occurs and your devices will continue to receive full output.
If you need consistent full-speed charging, plug the power bank into a wall outlet using the built-in AC plug.
Issue 7: The Power Bank Is Not Recharging When Plugged Into a Wall Outlet
If your BU054 is not recharging via the built-in AC plug, please try the following:

  • Unfold the AC plug completely and ensure it is fully inserted into the wall outlet.
  • Confirm the outlet is working by testing it with another device.
  • Verify the outlet supports 100 to 240V at 50/60Hz, which is the input range for the BU054.
  • Check the LED indicators. When recharging, the LEDs will flash or animate to confirm the power bank is receiving power.
  • Try a different wall outlet to rule out an outlet issue.
If the power bank still does not recharge, please contact Belkin Support.
Issue 8: The Power Bank Is Not Recharging Via USB-C
If you're trying to recharge the BU054 using a USB-C cable and PD charger, please try the following:

  • Use a USB-C PD charger rated for at least 35W for the fastest recharge speed.
  • Try both input options. The BU054 accepts input via either the USB-C port or one of the built-in USB-C cables.
  • Try a different USB-C cable if you're using your own cable. A damaged or non-PD cable may prevent recharging.
  • Check the LED indicators to confirm the power bank is receiving power. The LEDs should flash or animate during recharging.
If recharging still does not work, please try the built-in AC plug as an alternative or contact Belkin Support.
Issue 9: Pass-Through Charging Is Not Working
Pass-through charging (charging connected devices while the power bank itself is recharging) is supported only in AC mode:

  • Plug the BU054 into a wall outlet using the built-in foldable AC plug.
  • Connect your devices to the USB-C port, USB-A port, or built-in USB-C cables.
  • Your connected devices will charge first, and once they are fully charged, the power bank's internal battery will begin recharging.
Please note that pass-through charging is not supported when the power bank is being recharged via USB-C input in battery mode.
Issue 10: The USB-C Port Is Not Working When the AC Plug Is in Use
This is expected behavior. When the BU054 is plugged into a wall outlet:

  • The USB-C port functions as output only. You cannot use it as an input while the AC plug is active.
  • To use USB-C input, unplug the AC plug from the wall outlet and connect a USB-C PD charger to the USB-C port instead.
Issue 11: The Power Bank Shut Off Automatically
The BU054 includes a Multi-Protection Safety System that may shut off the power bank under certain conditions:

  • Check the battery level. If the battery is depleted, recharge the power bank.
  • Allow the power bank to cool down if it has been used for an extended period or in a warm environment. Operating temperature should be between 0°C and 35°C.
  • Disconnect all devices and wait a few minutes, then try again.
  • Inspect for any damaged cables or devices that may be causing a short circuit.
If the power bank continues to shut off unexpectedly, please contact Belkin Support.
