Passthrough Charging Explained: How to Power and Charge USB-C Devices at the Same Time

Want to power your Nintendo Switch 2 while your power bank is charging? That’s the convenience of passthrough charging. This quick guide explains how passthrough charging works—especially in a USB-C setup—and how it applies to your Gaming Charging Case (Model ENA001). This guide applies directly to the ENA001 Gaming Charging Case. Use it as a reference when setting up your USB-C charging flow—whether you're gaming on the go or charging overnight.

What Is Passthrough Charging?

Passthrough charging lets a power bank charge from a wall outlet while also powering another device. This means you can use one power source to charge both your power bank and, for example, your phone or gaming console.

How It Works (As Shown in the Diagram)

  • Wall Charger

Plug a USB-C cable from your wall charger (15W minimum, not included) into either USB-C port on the Power Bank. Nintendo Switch 2 USB-C chargers are compatible.

  • Power Bank

Both USB-C ports support input and output, so you can use either one for charging or connecting to your device.

  • Connected Device

Connect your gaming console to the power bank via USB-C.

This setup allows you to charge both the power bank and your device at the same time without switching cables.

Benefits of Passthrough Charging

  • Allows continued device use while charging both the power bank and Switch 2.

  • Enables charging of two devices from a single outlet, which may be useful during travel or when power sources are limited.

  • Reduces the need for multiple chargers and cables.

Considerations

  • Charging speeds may decrease when using the Nintendo Switch 2, as some power is used for operation.

  • Extended passthrough use with high-powered devices may result in heat generation or decreased efficiency.
