The router is OFF
If you are unable to detect your network, your router may be OFF, or you may be using defective Ethernet cables or power adapter. To verify, check your other wireless devices if they are able to detect the network.
You can also check if the power adapter is providing the necessary amount of power to your router by checking the voltage specifications found on your power adapter.
Verify if the SSID broadcast is disabled
If the SSID broadcast of your router is disabled, your wireless devices may not be able to find the SSID of your network in the Wi-Fi network list.
NOTE: You can also connect to the network without enabling the SSID broadcast. To learn how, click here.
Relocate your router
If your iPad is not able to locate or detect the SSID of your wireless network, you may not be within range of your wireless router, or there may be a lot of obstructions in between your device and the router.
Some of these obstructions are:
- Thick walls and ceilings
- Metal objects
- Cabinets
- Mirrors
- Glass
Reset your connection to the wireless network
If you are experiencing this issue only with your iPad, you may need to reset its connection to the wireless network. You may try these basic troubleshooting steps on your iPad in order to reset its connection to the wireless network:
-
Removing a network from the preferred network list on your iPad - Removing your network from the preferred network list removes all settings associated with the network you are having problems with. This can resolve any network issues you may be experiencing when connecting your iPad to the wireless network.
-
Resetting the network settings of your iPad - Resetting the network settings on your iPad removes all the current settings stored on it which may resolve most of the connectivity issues you may be encountering.
Once the slide to power off prompt appears, swipe the slider to power OFF the device. Switch it back ON after a few seconds and try to connect again.
