- The Wemo® device's default WiFi name. The Light Switch's default WiFi name is Wemo.LightV2.xxx (where xxx represents the last three characters of the Wemo’s serial number).
- The Apple® HomeKit® code. It is located either in the Quick Start Guide, at the back of the Light Switch or at the front of the Light Switch (remove the faceplate in order to see the sticker).
- An installed Wemo WiFi Smart Light Switch, WLS040
- The latest version of the Wemo app downloaded from the App Store®
- An iOS device that's connected to your home WiFi
Once the requirements above are complete, proceed with the setup instructions below.

Step 2: Launch the Wemo app.
Step 3: Enter your credentials and tap Log In.
Step 4: Tap on Add a New Wemo.
Step 5: Select Light Switch.
Step 6: Select the first option.
Step 7: Make sure your mobile device is connected to your home WiFi and your HomeKit code is ready. Then tap Continue With Setup.
Step 8: Tap on Yes, It's Installed.
Step 9: Check the indicator light on your Wemo then tap on It's Blinking Blue. If the light isn't blinking blue, tap on It's not blinking blue and follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 10: Connect to your Wemo's default WiFi name. In the example below, the default WiFi name is Wemo.LightV2.125.
Step 11: Return to setup and once your Wemo is detected on the Wemo app, tap on it to set it up.
NOTE: If more than one Wemo WLS040 is detected, select one to set up. You can only set up one Light Switch at a time.
Step 12: In the Get Ready to Scan screen, tap on the Let's Scan button.
NOTE: If you have multiple Apple Home locations, you may be prompted to select a location. Make sure to select your current location.
Step 13: Scan the HomeKit code located in the Quick Start Guide or on the Wemo itself. To check the HomeKit code sticker on the Wemo WLS040, remove the faceplate on the device.
Alternatively, you can also enter the HomeKit code manually by tapping I Don't Have a Code or Cannot Scan > My Accessory Isn't Shown Here then selecting Enter code under the Manual Code section. Once you have entered the HomeKit Setup Code, tap on Continue.
Step 14: Wait until the accessory has been added.
NOTE: If you receive any HomeKit code error such as Unable to Add Accessory, tap on OK.
When you click the drop-down arrows on each light behavior, instructions will be shown. Follow the instructions based on the status of your Wemo device's indicator light.

Step 15: Give your Wemo a personalized name then tap Next.
Step 16: If prompted, enter your email address then tap Next.
Step 17: Select and connect to your home WiFi.
Step 18: Enter your WiFi password to connect.
You should now have successfully set up your Wemo WiFi Smart Light Switch, WLS040.
