This article will help you set up the Wemo Outdoor Plug using an iOS device. For setup instructions when using an Android™ device, click here.
Before you begin
- Download the latest Wemo app from the App Store®.
- Create a Wemo account. For instructions, click here.
- Make sure your mobile device is connected to your home Wi-Fi.
- Write down the default Wi-Fi name (e.g., Wemo.Plug.001) for the following scenarios:
- If you are unable to scan the HomeKit® code during setup (for manual code entry)
- If you are setting up multiple Wemo Outdoor Plugs

Step 2: Tap on the plus icon.

Step 3: Select Wemo SmartPlugs.

Step 4: Tap on the Wemo Outdoor Plug icon at the upper right side of the screen.

NOTE: If prompted to access Home Data, tap on Allow Access.
Step 5: Read the Tips for Outdoor Plugs and tap Next.

Step 6: Find a safe location for your Wemo Outdoor Plug then tap Got It.

Step 7: Once you've plugged in your Wemo, tap It's Plugged In.

NOTE: Tapping on What's a GFCI outlet will take you to a page that helps explain what it is and why it is recommend to use.
Step 8: Check to see if the light on your Wemo Outdoor Plug is blinking orange and white. If it is, tap It's Blinking Two Colors.

NOTE: If the light is not blinking orange and white, tap on It’s not blinking two colors at the bottom for further instructions. You may need to reset your Wemo Outdoor Plug.
Step 9: If your Wemo has a HomeKit code, tap Yes, I have a HomeKit code. Otherwise, tap No, I don't have a code.
NOTE: The HomeKit code can be found in the quick start guide and at the bottom of the Wemo Outdoor Plug.

Step 10: To scan your HomeKit code, tap on Let’s Scan.

NOTE: If you have multiple homes, you will be prompted to select your current home.

Step 11: Scan the HomeKit code.

NOTE: To enter the code manually, tap on I Don’t Have a Code or Cannot Scan first and then tap on Enter code.

Wait for the device to be added.

Step 12: Once your Accessory has been added, you can customize the name, set the room location, and change the type. Once done, tap on Next.
NOTE: You can also change these settings in the Apple® Home app.

Step 13: Select an option from the Suggested Scenes or just tap on Done.
NOTE: You can also add the Wemo Outdoor Plug to a scene or make any scene changes in the Apple Home app.

Your Wemo Outdoor Plug should now be ready to use.
