Creating and editing Rules using the Wemo App

One of the major selling points of the Wemo® line of products is the ability to control them anywhere you are in the world.  With the different Wemo Rules, you can easily set the day and time your Wemo device should turn ON or OFF. 

This article will give you instructions on how to create and edit Rules using the Wemo App.  For instructions on how to delete a Rule, click

Before creating or editing Rules, make sure to do the following:

 
  • Set up your Wemo device properly
  • Download and install the latest Wemo App from the Google Play™ store in your Android™ device or from the App Store® in your iOS device.

NOTE:  Images and steps may vary depending on the operating system of your mobile device.  In the examples below, an iOS device is used.
 

 
Step 1:  Launch the Wemo User-added image App and log in with your Wemo Account.  For instructions, click here.

NOTE:  If you do not have a Wemo Account yet, you will need to create one.  For instructions, click here.

Step 2:  Tap Rules.

Step 3:  Under CONTROL A DEVICE, choose a Rule.  Below, Schedule is used as an example.

Step 4:  Under TURN ON/OFF, select which of your Wemo devices you want this Rule to control.  

NOTE:  Make sure to choose the correct device to associate the Rule with.

Step 5:  Under WHEN, tap On/Off to set the time of the Rule and set the time and days you want the Wemo device to turn ON or OFF.

Days that are highlighted in bright green mean that the Rule is activated on those days.  If changes are made, tap Done then tap Save.

The home location set on the Wemo App will be shown and the time zone of your current location will be followed by all your Wemo devices.  Tap on your current location or select a different one.

The location you selected will be displayed on the screen.

You have now successfully created a Rule for your Wemo device.
 

 
Step 1:  Launch the Wemo App and log in with your Wemo Account.  For instructions, click here.

NOTE:  If you do not have a Wemo Account yet, you will need to create one.  For instructions, click here.
 
Step 2:  Tap Rules.

 
Step 3:  Tap on the existing Rule that you want to edit.  Below, the New Timer Rule is used.

Step 4:  Tap Edit then tap the Wemo device you want to make changes to and select a new time for the Rule.  In the example below, on until time is selected.

Step 5:  Once finished, tap Save.

NOTE:  To make changes to the Rule name, tap the name of the Rule you want to edit, enter the preferred name then tap Save.
 
You have now successfully edited a Rule for your Wemo device.
