Configuring the Belkin RT1800’s FTP server for External Storage access

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) servers are useful especially if you are hosting files that are accessed by remote users on the internet.  This article will give you instructions on how to set up an FTP server behind a Belkin WiFi 6 Router, RT1800.

Before you begin:

To create users or groups with access, you first need to set up Users and Groups for your Belkin RT1800's External Storage feature.  For instructions, click

NOTE:   External Storage is supported on the parent Belkin RT1800 only.
 
Step 1:
Access your router’s web interface.  For instructions, click here.

 
Step 2:
Click on Configuration.
 
Step 3:
Click on External Storage.  
 
Step 4:
Under Setup, check the FTP Server box to enable it.

Step 5:
Click Specify Folder.

Step 6:
Create or select a folder and a group (if you have configured permissions for users).

To select a Folder, simply click on its corresponding radio button.  In the example below, FOLDERSHARE is used.

To select a group, click on the group’s name under Available Groups and click the arrowhead to move it over to Groups with Access.

Step 7:
Click Save to apply settings.
