How to change the name of a device using the Apple Home app

The Apple® Home app allows you to customize your devices for easier identification.  An easy way to do this is by giving your device a unique name.  This article will walk you through in changing the name of your device in the Apple Home app.
 

Change the name of a device in the Apple Home app
 
Step 1:  Open your Apple Home app and then tap and hold on the tile of the device you wish to rename.

Step 2:  Tap on the gear icon in the lower right corner to bring up the device settings.

Step 3:  Tap on the name of the device to rename it.

Step 4:  Enter the new name you want for your device.  When you are done, tap the X icon in the top right corner to finish.

The new device name will now show on the device tile and in any automations or scenes it is part of.
