How to keep your phone steady on the Belkin Stage Magnetic Phone Tripod Mount

The  Belkin Stage Magnetic Phone Tripod Mount is made to hold your phone magnetically while attached to a compatible tripod. It can rotate 360°, tilt up and down, and let you use your phone in portrait or landscape mode.
If your phone slips, tilts, or does not stay centered, use this guide to check the phone case, magnetic connection, mount angle, and tripod setup.
Before you begin
  • Use a MagSafe-compatible phone or a phone case with a magnetic ring.
  • Remove thick, loose, wallet-style, metal, or non-magnetic cases before testing the mount.
  • Attach the mount to a tripod with a standard 1/4-inch screw thread.
  • Place the tripod on a flat and stable surface before attaching your phone.

Quick checks
IssuePossible causeTry this
Phone slips downThe phone case may not be magnetic or may be too thick.Remove the case and attach the phone directly to the mount. If the phone holds better, use a MagSafe-compatible or magnetic case.
Phone tilts on its ownThe mount angle may be too steep or the phone may not be centered.Recenter the phone on the magnetic area, then lower the tilt angle slightly.
Phone does not stay centeredThe magnetic ring may not be aligned with the center of the mount.Lift the phone off the mount, align the center of the phone with the magnetic pad, then attach it again.
Phone feels looseA wallet attachment, grip, ring holder, or thick case may be blocking the magnetic connection.Remove any phone accessories from the back of the phone or case.
Mount moves while recordingThe tripod screw may not be tightened fully.Tighten the mount onto the tripod, then check that the tripod head is locked in place.

1
Check the phone or case compatibility
The mount works best with MagSafe-compatible phones and magnetic cases. A non-magnetic case may weaken the connection between your phone and the mount.
  • Remove the phone case and test the phone directly on the mount.
  • If the phone holds better without the case, switch to a MagSafe-compatible or magnetic case.
  • Do not use a case that is loose, bulky, uneven, or not made for magnetic mounting.

2
Center the phone on the magnetic mount
Your phone may slip or rotate if the magnetic ring is not aligned with the center of the mount.
  • Hold the phone close to the mount until you feel it snap into place.
  • Check that the phone is centered before recording.
  • If the phone sits off-center, remove it and attach it again.
Tip: Attach the phone before adjusting the final shooting angle.

3
Remove accessories from the back of the phone
Items attached to the back of your phone or case can block the magnetic connection.
  • Remove wallet attachments before using the mount.
  • Remove pop grips, ring holders, stands, card holders, or sticker mounts.
  • Remove any accessory that creates a gap between the phone and the magnetic surface.

4
Adjust the tilt angle
The mount can rotate and tilt for different shots. If the phone moves after you set the angle, the tilt may be too steep for your current setup.
  • Start with the phone in a straight, upright position.
  • Slowly tilt the mount up or down until you get the angle you need.
  • If the phone starts to slide, return the mount to a less steep angle.
  • For heavy phones or thick cases, use a smaller tilt angle.

5
Check the tripod connection
If the phone and mount both move together, the issue may be with the tripod connection instead of the magnetic mount.
  • Attach the mount to a tripod with a standard 1/4-inch screw thread.
  • Turn the mount until it sits firmly on the tripod screw.
  • Lock the tripod head before attaching your phone.
  • Place the tripod on a flat surface before recording.

6
Switch portrait and landscape mode carefully
The mount supports portrait and landscape use. If the phone shifts while rotating, the magnetic connection may need to be reset.
  • Hold the phone with one hand before rotating it.
  • Rotate the phone slowly into portrait or landscape position.
  • After rotating, check that the phone is still centered on the mount.
  • If it feels loose, remove the phone and attach it again.
