The Wemo

2.  What are the parts of the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch?

Below are the parts of the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch:
  • Restart/Reset WiFi/Restore button/LED bar – allows you to restart, reset or restore your Wemo 3-Way Light Switch
  • ON/OFF button – turns your light ON and OFF
  • Power/Wi-Fi light indicator – indicates Wi-Fi and device activity  
  • Faceplate – clip-on covering (no screws needed)
  • Traveler 1 and 2/Line/Neutral terminals + Ground this is compatible with single pole and 3-Way switches
 
3.  What are the system requirements for Wemo 3-Way Light Switch?
 
The system requirements for the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch are:
  • Existing Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz) with an active internet connection
  • The latest Wemo App from the App Store® or Google Play™ must be installed to your device
  • Neutral wire
  • Residential and indoor dry locations

5.  What is the warranty period?
 
The Wemo 3-Way Light Switch has a standard 3-year limited warranty for hardware support (including phone support).
 

6.  What Wi-Fi® standards and frequencies do the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch support?

The Wemo 3-Way Light Switch supports the 2.4 GHz frequency of an 802.11n Wi-Fi standard.
 

7.  Is it dimmable?
 
No, the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch is not dimmable and cannot be used in a circuit with dimmer switches.  This will cause the Wemo to malfunction or not work at all.  
 

8.  Does the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch support fluorescent lights?
 
Yes, the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch can work with incandescent, halogen, compact fluorescent light (CFL), fluorescent, and LED lighting with a minimum of 3.5W.


9.  Can I turn ON/OFF the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch manually?
 
Yes, simply push the ON/OFF button of the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch.
 

10.  Can I use this product with 220V?
 
No, the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch has an electrical requirement of a maximum of 600W Incandescent or 1800W Resistive at 120VAC.


11.  What are the operating and storage temperatures for my Wemo?
 
The Wemo 3-Way Light Switch has an operating condition temperature of 0°C to 40°C and a storage condition temperature for all components of -40°C to 70°C.

13.  What is the standby power usage of this device?

This device uses less than 3W on standby mode.  It also uses the same amount of power when it is not idle such as when it is activated, triggered or performing a command.  


14.  What are the wires of the Wemo Light Switch made of?

All wires are made of copper that are UL-certified 16 AWG.

1.  How do I install the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch?

4.  What should I do if the light switches in my house do not have neutral wires installed?

Do not install the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch.  Neutral wires are required for your Wemo 3-Way Light Switch to function properly.  It may be dangerous or illegal to install if the neutral wires are not available.

6.  Will the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch work with a 3-way compatible switch and single pole circuits?

7.  Can the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch replace a 4-way switch?
 
No.
 
8.  What should I do if I’m having trouble wiring my Wemo 3-Way Light Switch?

10.  What is the default Wi-Fi name of the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch and where can I locate it?
 
The default Wi-Fi name is Wemo.LS3W.xxx where xxx are the last three digits of your Wemo 3-Way Light Switch.  You can locate the Wi-Fi name at the bottom of the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch.

 
ADVANCED CONFIGURATION

1.  How do I update the firmware of the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch?

2.  What are the compatible rules for my Wemo 3-Way Light Switch?
 
The Wemo 3-Way Light Switch will work with the following rules:
  • Schedule rules
  • Auto-off Timer rules
  • Away rules (This requires a Nest Thermostat to initiate the rule.)
  • Away Mode rules
  • Google Assistant
  • Amazon Alexa
  • Apple Home app
  • IFTTT®
3.  I have set up two Wemo 3-Way Light Switches on the same circuit to manage the same light, what should I do?
 
If you have set up two Wemo 3-Way Light Switches on the same circuit to manage the same light, you can group them together by making one a primary and the other a secondary switch.  To know more, click here
 

TROUBLESHOOTING

1.  What should I do when my Wemo 3-Way Light Switch shows an overheat alert?
 
Once the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch detects that it has reached the maximum heat threshold, it will automatically turn OFF and send a signal to any associated Wemo App so you know that the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch has overheated.  When you see the triangle alert icon, tap on it.  To know more, click here 
 
2.  How do I reset the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch?
 
You can restart or reset your Wemo 3-Way Light Switch either through the Wemo App (recommended) or through physically resetting the device itself.  To know how, click here.  
 
3.  What should I do if the Wemo is not detected when the smartphone is connected to the 5 GHz band?

Switch the connection to the 2.4 GHz frequency band.  The Wemo 3-Way Light Switch does not support the 5 GHz frequency band.
 
4.  What should I do if the Wi-Fi name of my Wemo 3-Way Light Switch is not broadcasting?
 
If your Wemo 3-Way Light Switch is not broadcasting any Wi-Fi name, you have to reset the device.  To learn how to properly reset your Wemo 3-Way Light Switch to its factory default settings, click

5.  What should I do when the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch’s Wi-Fi name is not detected by the Android™ or iOS smartphone during setup?
 
Press and hold the LED bar on your Wemo 3-Way Light Switch and release until the light turns blue to reset the device.

NOTE:  The LED bar is the same as the Restart/Reset WiFi/Restore button.

 
6.  What should I do if I experience intermittent Wi-Fi during setup?
 
Test your Wi-Fi by setting up your Wemo device near your router.  Make sure that that there are no obstructions and interferences.  For more troubleshooting tips on how to resolve intermittent connection, click

QUICK TIP:  Most routers have a maximum number of devices that can be connected.  This may cause other devices to drop from the Wi-Fi connection.
 

7.  What should I do if Remote Access failed?

8.  Can the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch be controlled by more than one smartphone?
 
Yes.  You can control your Wemo devices with more than one smartphone.

 
9.  I grouped two Wemo 3-Way Light Switches.  After tapping on the Make Light Switch Secondary option in the Wemo App, I no longer see both of the Wemo 3-Way Light Switches, how can I resolve this?
 
If you installed two Wemo 3-Way Light Switches on the same circuit to manage the same light, the first Light Switch becomes your primary switch and the second one becomes your secondary switch.  They are then grouped as one and only the primary switch appears in the Wemo App.  If you have accidentally clicked on the Make Light Switch Secondary option in Settings, you can undo this by resetting one of the switches and running setup again.  To know how to reset, click here 
 
10.  What should I do if my Wemo 3-Way Light Switch appears grayed out in the Device list and I am unable to manage it?

To resolve the issue, follow the instructions below:
  • Check the light indicator and confirm if the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch is connected to the network.
  • Make sure your mobile device is connected to the Wi-Fi.  Close and re-open the Wemo App to refresh.
  • If you are managing the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch remotely, make sure the correct Wi-Fi name appears in the More > Remote Access section
  • If all else fails, reset the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch and run setup again.
11.  What is the Make Light Switch Secondary option in the Settings menu?

This option is used to resolve rule conflicts.  If you see two Light Switches in the Wemo App, choose one and tap on the Make Light Switch Secondary option.  Once done, the primary and secondary light switches will act as one and only the primary light switch will appear in the Wemo App.  To know how to set up your light switch as secondary, click here.
