Setting up two Wemo 3-Way Light Switches connected to the same circuit

The Wemo® WiFi Smart 3-Way Light Switch, WLS0403 can replace your existing 3-Way and single-pole light switches. If you have installed two Wemo 3-Way Light Switches to the same circuit in order to manage the same light, follow the steps below.

This article assumes that you have installed two Wemo 3-Way Light Switches on the same circuit and are NOT currently connected to your Home Wi-Fi.

Directions:

Step 1: Set up your first Wemo 3-Way Light Switch. Launch the User-added image

Wemo App.

Step 2: Tap on Add a Wemo.

NOTE: You can also tap the More icon and tap on Add a Wemo from there.

Step 3: Select Wemo Light Switch.

Step 4: Select Wemo 3-Way Light Switch.

Step 5: Make sure your mobile device is connected to your home Wi-Fi and have your Apple® HomeKit™ code ready, then tap Continue With Setup.

NOTE: Have your HomeKit code ready for iOS devices.

Step 6: If you have already installed the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch, tap on Yes, It’s Installed.

Step 7: Check the light on your second Wemo 3-Way Light Switch then tap on It’s Blinking Blue.

NOTE: If the indicator light is not blinking blue, reset the second Wemo 3-Way Light Switch. For instructions, click here.

Step 8: Once your Wemo 3-Way Light Switch is detected, tap on Set Up.

NOTE: If both of your Wemo 3-Way Light Switches were detected at the same time, choose one to make it the primary Light Switch.

Step 9: If you are using an iOS device, you will be prompted to enter the HomeKit code. You can either scan the HomeKit code located in the Quick Start guide or enter the HomeKit code manually by selecting Don't Have a Code or Can't Scan? then select Enter code.

Step 10: Select Yes, there is another Wemo Light Switch on this circuit.

Step 11: Select No, I haven't connected it to my Wi-Fi.

Step 12: Personalize your Wemo 3-Way Light Switch and complete the setup of your first Wemo 3-Way Light Switch.

Step 13: Now, let's set up your second Wemo 3-Way Light Switch by repeating Step 1 to Step 7.

Step 14: On the We Found Wemos screen, choose the second Wemo 3-Way Light Switch and tap on Set Up.

NOTE: You can identify the second Wemo 3-Way Light Switch through its Wemo ID or Wemo name at the bottom of the Light Switch.

Step 15: Select Yes, there is another Wemo Light Switch on this circuit.

Step 16: Select Yes, I have connected the other Light Switch to my Wi-Fi.

Step 17: Tap on Make It Secondary.

Step 18: Tap Confirm.

NOTE: If you ever need to undo this, simply reset both Light Switches and run setup again.

NOTE: Once the second Wemo 3-Way Light Switch becomes the secondary, both Light Switches will act as one, however only the primary Light Switch will appear in the Device list of your Wemo App.
