Getting a “Setup Code is incorrect – Try again” error during Wemo Mini setup

Scenario 1:  Getting a Setup Code is incorrect – Try again error after entering the Setup Code correctly to set up the Wemo® Mini Smart Plug, F7C063.
 
To fix this issue, follow the steps below.
 
Before you begin:
  • Note down the Setup Code from the label of your Wemo Mini.
  • Make sure you meet the following requirements:
  • Existing Wi-Fi 
  • Wemo App 1.21 or higher
  • iOS 11.3 or higher
  • iOS 11.3 is only required if you will be managing your Wemo Mini with the Apple Home app, otherwise iOS 9 or higher is required.
 
Step 1:  Reset the Wemo Mini to factory defaults.  For specific instructions on how to do this, click here.
 
Step 2:  Reboot your iOS device.
 
Step 3:  Open the Wemo App and tap on Add A Wemo or tap on More and tap on Add a Wemo.

Step 4:  Select Wemo Smart Plugs.

Step 5:  Plug in your Wemo and tap on It’s Plugged In.

Step 6:  Wait for the status light to blink orange and white.  This signifies that the Wemo Mini is ready for setup.  Tap on It’s Ready for Setup.

Step 7:  Tap on Set Up.

Step 8:  Tap on the Don’t Have a Code or Can’t Scan? link at the bottom.

Step 9:  Tap Enter code...
 
QUICK TIP:  Once the Wemo app detects that your Wemo Mini is nearby, a Wemo Mini tile will appear on the screen.  You may tap the tile to manually enter the code.
 
Step 10:  Enter the eight-digit Apple® HomeKit™ code of your device.
 
Step 11:  Wait until you see the Your new accessory is ready to use. message.  This means the device has been successfully added.  Follow the rest of the steps on the app to complete the setup.
