Integrating Wemo devices with IFTTT

If This Then That (IFTTT) is a service that allows you to combine different online services together.  By integrating Wemo® with IFTTT, Wemo can be triggered by a variety of online services including, email, weather updates, phone calls, Twitter and many more.  Tasks that trigger a Wemo action have few hours polling period.  To learn more about IFTTT, you can click here to visit their web page.

Before you begin, here are few things you can consider:
  • Make sure that you have an IFTTT account.
  • Make sure that you have a Wemo Account.
  • Make sure that your Wemo devices are connected to the network and linked to your Wemo Account.
  • Make sure that you enable the IFTTT services needed for your IFTTT Applets.
  • Make sure you have the latest firmware updates and have Remote Access enabled.  For instructions on how to update the firmware of the Wemo device, click hereFor details on enabling Remote Access, click here.

IMPORTANT:  The IFTTT feature is different from Remote Access.  If you want to set up another Wemo device in another location through Remote Access, you need to set it up with a different mobile device than the one you used to set up the Wemo devices in your local network.  For example, if you used an iPhone® to set up the Wemo devices in your home, you would need to use another mobile device to set up the Wemo devices in another location.  This could be another iPhone, a tablet, or another smartphone.
