How to change recording options on the Wemo Doorbell

The Wemo Smart Video Doorbell, WDC010 works with HomeKit® Secure Video to store recorded video clips to your iCloud® account.  This requires a paid iCloud storage plan and a Home Hub.  After you have set up this plan, you can change the recording options

NOTE:  All recording and billing services are handled by Apple®.  Belkin does not collect any money for these services nor do we have access to your recordings.  For more information on HomeKit Secure Video, please visit the
Apple website.

Step 1:  Open your Apple Home app and navigate to your doorbell.  Tap on the tile to open the doorbell window then tap on the gear icon to open the Wemo® Doorbell settings.

Location Options

  • When Home - Home determines that you or members of your Apple Home are at the same location as your Wemo Doorbell.
  • When Away - Home determines that no one is at the same location as your Wemo Doorbell.

Recording Options

  • OFF - This is the default setting.  Setting this option will disable all notifications and nothing will be recorded.  Use this if you just want to view the live video feed of your doorbell but nothing else.
  • Detect Activity - This setting allows your camera to detect motion and notify members of your Home about it, but you will not be able to view the live feed of your camera.
  • Stream - This setting allows all members of your Home to receive notifications from motion activity and view a live feed of the camera when the notification is tapped on.
  • Stream & Allow Recording - This is the same as the Stream option but it will also record video clips to your iCloud account.

More Options

If recordings are turned ON, you can tap on More Options to change specific settings around when to record motion clips.

  • Any Motion is Detected - Choosing this will trigger an alert anytime the doorbell senses motion.  This includes people, animals, vehicles, and drastic changes in light.
  • Specific Motion is Detected - This setting lets you choose the motion you want the doorbell to detect.  It is less sensitive than Any Motion and should be used if you are receiving false motion alerts.  This may include people walking up to your door, animals walking by the door, and vehicles driving by.
  • Record Audio - This toggles sound ON and OFF for your videos.  It will only record sounds it picks up.  It will not record audio from a two-way communication through the doorbell.
