Use the steps below to clean and disinfect a Screen Skinz Custom Screen Protector without damaging the surface.
Step 1: Pick the Right Cloth
- Use a microfiber cloth.
- If microfiber is not available, use a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Avoid paper towels. They can leave tiny scratches over time.
Step 2: Do a Quick Dry Clean First
- Wipe the screen gently in one direction.
- Do not press hard.
- This removes grit that can scratch when liquid is used.
Step 3: Choose a Safe Cleaner
Use one of the approved options below:
- Clean water (for basic smudges).
- 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe, or a small amount of 70% isopropyl alcohol applied to a cloth (for disinfecting).
- Screen-safe cleaner made for phones and glasses.
Tip: Apply liquid to the cloth, not directly to the screen protector.
Step 4: Disinfect the Right Way
- Lightly dampen a microfiber cloth, or use a single alcohol wipe.
- Wipe the Screen Skinz surface using gentle strokes.
- Do not soak the edges.
- Allow the surface to air dry for 10–20 seconds.
- Buff lightly with a dry part of the cloth to remove streaks.
IMPORTANT: Do Not Use These
- Bleach or chlorine cleaners
- Hydrogen peroxide cleaners
- Ammonia-based cleaners (common in many glass cleaners)
- Vinegar or strong acids
- Abrasive powders or creams
- Rough sponges or scrub pads
Recommended Cleaning Frequency
- Normal use: Quick microfiber wipe daily.
- Disinfecting: Use a 70% alcohol wipe as needed. Do not overdo it.
