Belkin NIAP PP4.0 Secure KVM and KM Administrator Advanced Configurations – How to Create Additional Admin User Accounts

Last updated: 5/29/2024

Your Belkin PP4.0 Secure KVM / KM product enables authorized administrators to access the Administrator Configuration Terminal to view and download event logs, audit the product operation, and change advanced settings.

Each KVM / KM has a default Admin user account that cannot be modified or removed from the KVM / KM, other than by changing the password. For security and auditing purposes, up to 8 additional administrator accounts can be created for each KVM / KM unit you deploy.

Why create additional accounts?

  • Each account has its username and password. This allows for more security than all users sharing the default account.
  • Changes made to an account, such as a password change, only impact that account.
  • System configuration changes are logged and tagged with the user that made them along with when the user made the change. This is beneficial for auditing purposes.
  • If you lose the password to one account, you have additional accounts that can make administration changes.

How to create additional administrator user accounts

1. Log in to the Administrator Configuration Terminal.

2. Choose Menu 4 – account management.

4. You will be prompted to enter the username for the new admin account. Enter the new username and press [Enter]. You will need to enter the name again to confirm.

5. Next you will need to enter a new password. The password must adhere to the following criteria:

  • Must be between 8 and 24 characters long
  • Must have at least 1 capital letter
  • Must have at least 1 lower-case letter
  • Must have at least 1 number
  • Must have at least 1 special character (symbol)

When changing the default password, you will be prompted to enter it again to confirm it matches. If it does not match, you will receive an error.

A message will be displayed once the account is created and the password is accepted.
