- Setting up the Belkin Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender, F9K1106
Before you begin, take note of the following:
Ensure that your router is connected to the internet and that the SSID Broadcast feature of your router has been enabled.
Take note of your Wi-Fi® name and password. If it's a dual-band router, make sure you have the Wi-Fi name and password of the two networks. To learn how to check your Wi-Fi settings, click here.
The computer has a web browser like Internet Explorer®, Chrome™ or Firefox®.
IMPORTANT: Follow the setup instructions below for firmware version 1.00.16 or later. To download the latest firmware, click here.
Place the range extender in an area where the Wi-Fi signal of your router is strong, but near where you want to establish your extended network.
Plug in the power supply of the range extender and make sure that it is powered ON. Shortly, its light will begin to flash blue and orange.
Place your computer near the range extender. Also, make sure your computer is not wired to any other network devices.
QUICK TIP: When finding a location for your range extender, it is best to place it within the same room as the computer.
Connect your computer to the range extender by opening the list of Wi-Fi networks and selecting Belkin.setup. Confirm that the list shows it's connected.
NOTE: If you do not see the Belkin.setup network, you can reset your device. Click here to learn how.
Open a web browser, enter https://belkin.range into the Address bar, and follow the on-screen instructions. Don't forget to type "http".
QUICK TIP: You can also use https://192.168.206.1 to access the range extender's web-based setup page.
Once the setup for your range extender is complete, you may connect the computer to its Wi-Fi.
