What networks will not work with Wemo

Wemo® is a family of innovative and easy-to-use products that allow you to control your home electronics from anywhere inside and even outside your home network.  However, for security reasons, Wemo isn't supported by the following networks:

1.  Enterprise networks

Enterprise router security is set up with a series of firewalls that Wemo does not support.

NOTE:  You can still use these networks to remotely connect to the Wemo devices in your home.

2.  Café networks

Café-style networks (e.g., coffee shops, libraries) usually require a browser to provide additional login credentials before connecting to the WiFi which Wemo does not support.

NOTE:  You can still use these networks to remotely connect to the Wemo devices in your home.

3.  Cellular hotspots

Using a cellular hotspot device is not supported by Wemo.

4.  Networks using Chinese characters

Wemo is not currently compatible with networks that use Chinese characters in the WiFi name or password.  It is recommended to change the WiFi name or password to alphanumeric.

IMPORTANT:  Your Wemo and your device must be connected to the same WiFi.  If your Wemo is connected to a different router, you need to reset your Wemo to factory defaults.  To learn how, click here.

5.  ARRIS® modem routers

There is a known compatibility issue with ARRIS modem routers and ARRIS networking equipment.  Wemo can be used with ARRIS networking equipment but there have been cases where the Wemo will not function correctly or may have difficulty connecting or staying connected to an ARRIS networking product.

A workaround would be to set up an access point with a different brand in your network and connect your Wemo products to that.
