Setting up your Belkin router can be done in two ways:
- Using the Setup CD that came with your router
- Using the router’s built-in web-based setup page
To set up a Belkin router without using the Setup CD, you need to perform three procedures:
Verify the internet connection
Connect the devices together
Accessing the router’s web-based setup page
Verify the internet connection
This is to identify if the connection coming from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is working.
NOTE: This article assumes that you have a modem. If you don’t, skip the first two (2) steps below and connect your computer directly to the internet patch. Check if you’re able to get online. If you are, click here to proceed to the next step. If not, contact your ISP.
Step 1:
Connect your computer to the modem using an ethernet cable without the router installed.
Connect your computer to the modem using an ethernet cable without the router installed.

NOTE: Make sure that the modem is plugged into a power source.
Step 2:
Verify if your computer is getting an internet connection by accessing a website.
IMPORTANT: If you cannot access the internet, you need to contact your ISP.
Now that you have established that the modem’s internet connection is working fine, you may proceed with the router setup.
NOTE: Unplug the modem from the power source before starting the setup.
Connect the devices together
You can now connect your router to your modem in order to prepare for setup.
Step 1:
Connect your modem to the WAN or Internet (modem)
port of the router.

Step 2:
Plug in your modem and then your router to the power source.

Step 3:
Connect the computer to any of the LAN or Ethernet

Step 4:
Observe the light of your router located at the upper panel of the device. Wait for a few minutes until the light turns solid blue.
If the light does not turn blue or blinking amber, the following is a list of troubleshooting tips that you can perform:
- Make sure that the router is properly connected to your modem with an ethernet cable.
- Powercycle the modem by unplugging it from the power source for a few seconds then plugging it back to the power source again.
- Powercycle the router by unplugging the router's power supply for 10 seconds then plug it back in. This will help the router to re-establish communication with the modem.
