5. Can USB extenders be used with Belkin Secure KVMs?
HARDWARE INFORMATION
Networks are separated at the server room, but joined together at the desktop via KVM, thus, it is an important part of the whole network. A Secure KVM is the ideal thing to have in this scenario since enterprise and infrastructure security can be at risk without it.
The F1DN108x(-3) and F1DN116x(-3) come with mounting ears that are designed to accommodate a standard 19” A/V rack, consuming 1RU of space.
The following 2-port and 4-port models use the F1D006 optional bracket for desktop mounting:

5. Can USB extenders be used with Belkin Secure KVMs?
Per National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) requirements for secure peripherals, the use of USB ports must be highly controlled to avoid an open USB port being potentially used to gain access to secure networks. In the Belkin Secure KVM product line, the USB ports on the KVM are limited to only pass standard USB mouse and keyboard commands. This may limit the KVM's compatibility with some USB extenders that may act as a USB hub since it will block transmissions through it. To compound the situation as the market for USB extenders is not regulated well, there are significant variances from vendor to vendor and equally large variances in specific products from the same vendor.
Belkin has tested the ATEN UCE60 extender and found it to work with its Secure KVM product portfolio. However, we cannot guarantee its availability or if the current revision has not changed from the version tested by Belkin. We would recommend avoiding any USB extender with a built-in hub and testing of multiple brands to determine which works correctly.
