What is a Secondary Switch for the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch?

The Wemo® WiFi Smart 3-Way Light Switch, WLS0403 can replace your existing 3-Way and single-pole light switches. If you have two Wemo 3-Way Light Switches connected on the same circuit to manage the same light and are having rule conflicts for both of these Light Switches, you may need to set one as a secondary Light Switch. This article will help you to make the second one a secondary Light Switch.

Before you begin:

Use this option ONLY if you have two Wemo 3-Way Light Switches on the same circuit to manage the same light and are having rule conflicts.
Both of your Wemo 3-Way Light Switches are showing in the Device list
Once you make one of the Light Switches secondary, both of the Light Switches will act as one and only the primary Light Switch will appear in the Device list of the Wemo App.

Directions:

Step 1: Launch the User-added image

Wemo App.

Step 2: On the Device list, tap on the pencil User-added image

icon and select one of the Wemo 3-Way Light Switches (doesn’t matter which one) and tap the arrow next to it.

Step 3: Tap Make Light Switch Secondary.

Step 4: To confirm that making your Light Switch secondary applies to you, select the two radio buttons then tap on Next.

NOTE: The Next button will become active only if you have checked both radio buttons. If these two items do not apply to you, then just tap on Cancel.

Step 5: Tap on Make It Secondary.

NOTE: To undo this or make your secondary Light Switch a primary Light Switch again, simply reset the device using the button. To know how to reset, click here.
