How to Reboot, Reset and Restore the Wemo Mini Smart Plug, F7C063

On occasion you may need to reboot, reset or restore your Wemo® Mini Smart Plug, F7C063.  This article will walk you through the different methods and reasons why you would want to perform it on your Wemo device.
 
NOTE:  Images may differ depending on the device (iOS or Android™) you are using, but the interface will mostly be similar.  Where needed, the specific differences will be shown to guide you better.

 


Reboot

If your Wemo Mini becomes unresponsive to the Wemo app or to manual controls, it is possible that it has crashed and will need a reboot.  Rebooting your device is as easy as unplugging it and plugging it back in.
 
Step 1:  Unplug the Wemo Mini from the power outlet.

Step 2:  Wait for 5 seconds.

Step 3:  Plug the Wemo Mini back into the power outlet.

 


Reset

A reset removes customizations from your Wemo Mini.  This can be done manually on the device when needing to change Wi-Fi settings, or using the Wemo app when you want to remove more.

 
Resetting using the Wemo app
 
Step 1:  Tap the pencil icon on the upper right-hand corner.

Step 2:  Tap your Wemo Mini.

Step 3:  Tap Reset Options.

Step 4:  Choose the type of reset you wish to do:
  • Choose Reset Name, Rules & Data for iOS devices or Clear Product Info for Android devices to remove any custom names, stored rules and custom icons.  This is useful when troubleshooting rule issues.
  • Choose Reset Wi-Fi settings for iOS devices or Reset Wi-Fi for Android devices if you are preparing to change your Wi-Fi name and password or do a full restore of your router.

Resetting using the button (Wi-Fi Reset)

You can perform a manual reset on the Wemo Mini in cases where you changed your Wi-Fi name or Wi-Fi password and your Wemo Mini can no longer connect to your network.

Step 1:  With the Wemo Mini plugged in, press and hold the power button.

Step 2:  Continue to hold the power button down until the Status Light begins to rapidly flash white.

Step 3:  Release the power button to Wi-Fi reset the Wemo Mini.

The Wemo Mini will erase its stored Wi-Fi settings and return into setup mode.  You will need to run through the setup procedure again to connect it back to your Wi-Fi.  Any name, rules or icons will remain on the device.  Click here for instructions on how to set up your Wemo Mini.
 


Restore

A restore removes all custom settings from a Wemo device and returns it to a factory default state.  This can be done using the Wemo app or on the Wemo Mini device itself.

 
Restore using the Wemo app (recommended)
 
This is the recommended way to restore your Wemo Mini as it will remove your device from any associated rules as well as from your Remote Access list.  It can take 2 to 3 minutes for your Wemo Mini to fully restore and reboot.  Once restored, it will reboot back into setup mode.
 
Step 1:  Tap the pencil icon on the upper right-hand corner.

Step 2:  Tap your Wemo Mini.

Step 3:  Tap Reset Options.

Step 4:  Choose Erase All Content and Settings.

Restore manually using the button (Factory Restore)
 
This method should only be used in troubleshooting situations.  If you restore your Wemo Mini using this method and intend to remove the Wemo Mini from your network and use it at another location, please contact the support team for further assistance.

Step 1:  Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds while the Wemo Mini is unplugged.

Step 2:  While pressing the power button, plug in the Wemo Mini to the power outlet.

Step 3:  Release the power button when you see the status light turn to a rapid white light.
