Wemo Smart Dimmer Overheat Protection Feature

The Wemo® WiFi Smart Dimmer, F7C059 and WDS060 come with an overheat protection feature that senses heat inside the device.  Once the Wemo Dimmer detects that it has already reached the maximum heat threshold, the unit will automatically turn OFF and send a signal to any associated Wemo apps to let them know that the Wemo Dimmer has overheated.

Why does my Wemo Dimmer overheat?

The Wemo Dimmer may overheat due to any of the following:

  • Improper household wiring
  • Improperly maintained J-Box
  • The Wemo Dimmer is pulling too much power that already exceeds the wattage rating of the device.
  • Improper ventilation or J-Box design or insulation where Wemo Dimmer is located
  • The ambient temperature has exceeded the 40°C maximum temperature of the Wemo Dimmer when running a heavy load on the device.
