PRODUCT INFORMATION

1. Can I use the RG Battery Backup to supply power to other devices?

No.  The RG Battery Backup can only be used with the AT&T Residential Gateway.

2. Can the RG Battery Backup be plugged into another VoIP device?

No.  The Belkin RG Battery Backup is designed specifically for use with the AT&T U-verseSM Residential Gateway and your AT&T U-verseSM Voice Service.

3. How long will the RG Battery Backup provide backup power?

The RG Battery Backup can provide backup power for up to four (4) hours with a new and fully charged CSB- or YUASA-branded battery or other battery recommended or supplied by Belkin.  This applies to one corded single-line touchtone phone connected to the AT&T U-verseSM Residential Gateway directly or through your in-home wiring, and with no other equipment and no service other than AT&T U-verseSM Voice service drawing power from the RG Battery Backup. Actual results will vary, depending, among other things, on battery age, usage patterns, and environmental conditions.

4. Why is my BU3DC001-12V unit beeping?

The BU3DC001-12V unit will beep for the following reasons:
  • When the unit is on battery
  • When the battery is low
  • When the battery needs replacing
  • When there is a fault with the battery

5. What is the battery specification of the F6C127xBAT?

Compatible Products - F6C1500-TW-RK

Battery Specification - 12V/7.2Ah sealed lead-acid battery

6. What is the F6C127xBAT battery used for?

This battery can be used to replace a battery with the same specification that has reached end of life.  It is compatible with the F6C1500-TW-RK.

7. How long does the BU3DC000-12V, BU3DC001-12V RG Battery Backup take to fully charge a battery?

It takes approximately 18 hours to charge a new, fully depleted battery at normal indoor temperatures.  If a power outage occurs before the battery is fully charged, the battery backup time of up to 4 hours will be reduced. Therefore, you should not rely on battery backup power for at least 18 hours after the RG Battery Backup is initially installed or a replacement battery is thereafter installed. During these periods, especially, and at all other times in general, you should ensure that you have an alternative means of dialing 911, such as via a cellular telephone. Your AT&T U-verseSM Voice service, including 911 dialing, will not function without electrical or battery backup power.  Battery charging times may vary depending on use.

8. What is the warranty of my RG Battery Backup?

Belkin warrants to the original purchaser of the Belkin RG Battery Backup, for a period of 3-years from the date of installation, that the RG Battery Backup shall be free of defects in design, assembly, material, or workmanship, and will repair or replace, at its option, any defective items within this Warranty period. Please contact 1800 BELKIN for Australian customer or 0800 BELKIN for NZ customers, to be guided through the replacement process.

9. How can I test my battery on the RG Battery Backup?

To conduct a Self-Test, turn the mute switch ON and OFF, then ON and OFF again within five (5) seconds.  During the self-test, the RG Battery Backup operates in backup mode. The RG Battery Backup automatically conducts a self-test every 21 days.  During the self-test, the RG Battery Backup briefly operates on battery-backup power. The "ON A/C" LED will flash for five (5) minutes during the test period.  If the RG Battery Backup passes the self-test, it returns to online operation. If the RG Battery Backup fails the self-test, it immediately returns to online operation and lights the "Replace Battery" LED.  The loads are not affected.  Recharge the battery overnight and perform the self-test again. If the "Replace Battery" LED is still on, the battery needs to be replaced.

10. What is the average service life of my battery?

In general, the life of a regularly used battery is between 3 to 4 years from the date of first charge and or usage.  As a battery nears the end of its productive life (typically considered 50% of its original capacity), the talk and stand-by times of the battery will be noticeably shorter.  You may need to get a Residential Gateway (RG) Battery Backup Replacement Battery anytime.

11. Why do the UPS switches turn OFF after a few minutes on battery?

The Superior Series and Active Battery Backup series UPS will switch off after about 5 minutes on battery when the load is very low, below approximately 50 Watts.  The UPS is therefore unsuitable to power just one or two low power devices like modems or routers.  This is done to prevent the UPS from completely discharging its battery when there is no computer connected with software to tell the UPS when to shut down.  This behavior cannot be changed; the UPS is designed to power a computer.

12. Can I use a phone with BU3DC00X-12V that requires an independent power source, such as a cordless phone?

Yes, but keep in mind that in the event of a power outage, unless that phone is powered by an AC UPS battery backup power source, it will not function.

13. Why won't my RG Battery Backup turn ON after I kept it in storage?

When you store the RG Battery Backup for an extended period, it must be plugged in and allowed to charge for 24 hours once every 3 to 6 months.  Unless this is done, the RG Battery Backup batteries will discharge to an unrecoverable point and the RG Battery Backup will require new batteries.

14. Can I connect the RG Battery Backup to an extension cord?

No, the RG Battery Backup needs to be connected directly to a wall outlet.

15. What are the optimal operating conditions of the RG Battery Backup?

The optimal operating condition for the RG Battery Backup is between 60 - 75 degrees Fahrenheit.  The RG Battery Backup is intended for installation and operation in a controlled environment (temperature controlled, indoor area free of conductive contaminants).  The RG Battery Backup should be installed near an easily accessible power outlet.

16. What is the switch on the front used for?

The switch is used to mute the audible alarm. The audible alarm will activate if:

  1. The RG Battery Backup is on battery power.
  2. The RG Battery Backup has a low battery.
  3. The battery in the RG Battery Backup needs to be replaced.

NOTE:  The audible alarm will not sound when the mute switch is in the ON position.

17. Why won't my new RG Battery Backup power up?

In nearly all cases, the RG Battery Backup should work immediately.  Each RG Battery Backup is shipped with a partial charge, it must be charged 4-6 hours.

18. Is there any battery conditioning required for the RG Battery Backup?

No battery conditioning is required on the RG Battery Backup.  Battery conditioners are simple aftermarket devices that charge & maintain lead batteries.

19. Can I use the RG Battery Backup if it has been in storage for an extended period of time?

Yes, but it will take approximately 18 hours to charge the battery at normal indoor temperatures.  You should not rely on battery-backup power for at least 18 hours after your RG Battery Backup has been connected.  During these periods especially, and at all other times in general, you should ensure that you have an alternative means of dialing 911 such as via a cellular telephone.  Your AT&T U-verseSM Voice service, including 911 dialing, will not function without electrical or battery-backup power.

20. How do I turn the RG Battery Backup ON?

To turn the RG Battery Backup on use the power ON/OFF switch located on the back panel of the unit.  The RG Battery Backup will not supply power to the AT&T U-verseSM Residential Gateway when power switch is in OFF position.

21. What is the operating temperature range of the RG Battery Backup?

The RG Battery Backup must be installed within a controlled environment.  The temperature should be controlled within the range of 60 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit.  The RG Battery Backup is intended for indoor installation only.

22. What are the Power leads needed for the BU308000 UPS?

The UPS's AC inlet is a male kettle plug at the end of a cable of about 30cm.  The UPS ships with one Male-to-Female kettle plug lead, not with a Mains power lead.  The intention is to power the UPS using the computer's original power lead and use the Male-to-Female kettle plug lead to power the computer from the UPS. Additional Male-to-Female power leads are available from most DIY stores etc.  The Belkin part number for them is CC1000aed06.

23. What is the F9G723 Clamping Voltage?

The clamping voltage of the F9G723 is 1.2kv

24. Are medical machines/devices plugged into the BZ111234-12 surge protector covered by the protection warranty?

The devices in question are not covered by the warranty.  The Warranty Terms and Conditions, included with the product, exclude ANY medical devices.
