How to do a WiFi reset on my HomeKit-only Wemo WiFi Smart Plug

Your Wemo® device stores the WiFi name and password in its internal memory.  The information stays on the device even if it is powered down.  If you ever need to change the WiFi settings, you have two options:

  • Perform a WiFi reset.  This will remove the stored WiFi information only (WiFi name and password), leaving all other custom information intact.  This is useful when you have changed the name or password of your WiFi or have changed your router.
  • Perform a full factory restore.  This will erase all stored content and settings of your Wemo.   For instructions on how to perform a factory restore on the Wemo WiFi Smart Plug for HomeKit®, click here.

This article will walk you through performing a WiFi reset on the Wemo WiFi Smart Plug for HomeKit.  The steps apply to the following Wemo devices:

  • Wemo WiFi Smart Plug For Europe, WSP080-EU
  • Wemo WiFi Smart Plug For United Kingdom, WSP080-UK

How to reset the WiFi settings

Step 1:  Make sure your Wemo is plugged in to a power outlet and the status light is OFF.

Step 2:  Press and hold the power button.

Step 3:  Continue to hold the power button down until the status light begins to rapidly flash white.

Step 4:  Once the light begins flashing, release the button.  Your Wemo will reset the WiFi settings and reboot.  It will return to setup mode (flashing orange and white) when ready.

You can now use your HomeKit app to connect your Wemo back to your WiFi.
