Wemo NetCam End of Life Announcement

Updated:  July 7th, 2020

Wemo® NetCam products will be discontinued on June 30, 2020, because the video service platform we use to support these products is shutting down.  We’ll continue to support Wemo NetCam services until then, but after that the service will end.

A great customer experience has been a hallmark of the Wemo brand since day one, so we will be offering refunds for Wemo NetCams that are under warranty.  This article will help guide you through what is happening, how you will be impacted, and to see if you are eligible for a refund.

How will I be impacted?

On June 30, 2020 the Wemo NetCam servers will be decommissioned.  Although your Wemo NetCam will still connect to your Wi-Fi, without these servers you will not be able to view the video feed or access the security features of your Wemo NetCam, such as Motion Clips and Motion Notifications.

Additionally, if you use your Wemo NetCam as a motion sensor for your Wemo line of products, it will no longer provide this functionality and will be removed as an option from your Wemo App.  Save any files/videos before June 30.

Can I continue using my camera with a third-party application?

Unfortunately, no.  The Wemo NetCam relies on the iSecurity+ video service platform for all video recording and motion notification functionality.  It cannot interface with third-party software applications.

Although the Wemo NetCam may still connect to your Wi-Fi, direct IP access to the video feed of the camera will not be available.

What do I do if I still have an active subscription to the iSecurity+ service?

iSecurity+ is the service platform that the Wemo NetCam operated on.  This service allowed users to pre-pay for a year of the premium video recording service.

For users with a yearly subscription that is still active May 29, 2020, we will be offering a refund for any unused portion of your subscription at the rate of $9.99* for each remaining month.

*The refund amount will be in the local currency of the user.

What do I do about my Wemo Netcam?

We realize that this will leave many users of the Wemo NetCam with a product they can no longer use.
That is why we have created the Belkin Wemo NetCam EOL Program.  This program allows users to submit information regarding the NetCam products that they own to see if they are eligible for a refund or one of our other available options.

How do I know if I am eligible for a refund?

To be eligible for a refund you must meet the following conditions:

For iSecurity+ Service
  • You must provide a valid, dated purchase receipt showing a service activation date for the yearly subscription
  • The subscription must have been purchased before May 29, 2020
  • The subscription must still have 1 or more active months* after May 29, 2020

*An active month will be considered as 7 days or more of service left in the subscription.

 For Wemo NetCam Cameras
  • A dated purchase receipt from an authorized reseller of Belkin and Wemo products for each Wemo NetCam you are requesting a refund for
  • The date of purchase must be after April 1, 2018
  • A purchase price must be visible on the receipt
  • The Wemo NetCam must be in your possession and you must be able to submit a photo of the product to Belkin.

What can I do if I am not eligible for a refund?

We don’t want to leave anyone out in the cold.  For users who are either unable to show their cameras are still under warranty or do not have cameras that are still under warranty, we have other options available other than a refund.  We ask that you fill out and submit the NetCam EOL Program form for further details.
