Encountering difficulty connecting the hard drive to the Mac® computer with the Thunderbolt™ Express Dock

It may be possible that you will encounter difficulty connecting your hard drive to your Mac® computer while using the Thunderbolt™ Express Dock.  One possible reason is that the operating system of your Mac computer is not up-to-date.  The Thunderbolt™ Express Dock requires Mac OS® X 10.8.4 or higher in order for them to work properly with each other.  Ensure that your Mac computer is up to date with the latest software.

You can also perform the following steps for basic troubleshooting:

  • Make sure the Thunderbolt™ Express Dock is powered ON to recognize any USB 3.0 devices.
  • With the Thunderbolt™ Express Dock powered ON and connected to your Mac® computer, disconnect the hard drive from the Thunderbolt™ Express Dock and unplug the power to the hard drive (if applicable).
  • Reconnect your hard drive to the Thunderbolt™ Express Dock and make sure the power cord is securely attached.
