Belkin NIAP PP4.0 Secure KVM and KM Administrator Advanced Configurations – How to Enable and Disable KM Mode on Your KVM

Last updated: 5/29/2024

Belkin KVMs are designed to share a keyboard, mouse, and one or two monitors between a set of connected computers. Belkin KMs share only the keyboard and mouse, with each computer having access to its own displays. Belkin KMs feature additional functionality that is disabled on Belkin KVMs, but it is possible to enable this functionality using the Administrator Configuration Terminal.

IMPORTANT: The steps below make configuration changes to settings on the system controller board of the KVM. After making changes on one channel, you will need to log out of the Terminal, switch to the next channel and follow the steps again for that channel. These configurations are on a per-channel basis.

How to enable KM functionality for your KVM

1. Log in to the Administration Configuration Terminal.

2. The mouse mode needs to be changed to Absolute. This is done by pressing and releasing the following keys in order: Left CTRL, Right CTRL, c.

NOTE: If you see a letter C in the Terminal, repeat step 2 but ensure you are pressing and releasing rather than holding the keys. If it continues, your SKVM may not support SKM functionality. While in Terminal mode, use Menu 1 to document the firmware versions of your SKVM, and reach out to Belkin Support for further assistance.

3. Use the top row of number keys to exit Terminal mode by pressing 8 and power cycle the SKVM.

How to disable KM functionality on a KVM

If you have enabled KM functionality on your KVM and now want to disable it, returning your KVM into KVM mode, a factory restore will need to be done. After this, your KVM will function as a normal KVM, and any customizations will need to be configured again.

1. Log in to the Administration Configuration Terminal.

2. Choose Menu 5 – reset to factory defaults. Your KVM will immediately begin the factory restore process and restart when completed.
