Connecting your Nintendo DS™ or Nintendo DSi™ to the Internet allows you to access various online functions such as multiplayer games and being able to access the Nintendo eShop. This article discusses how you can connect your Nintendo® handheld console to the wireless network.
A few things to remember before you begin:
- Ensure that your router is connected to the Internet and that the SSID Broadcast feature of your router has been enabled.
- Take note of your wireless network name (SSID) and password.
Step 1:
Launch a Nintendo® Wi-Fi compatible game. On the game's main menu, tap or select Nintendo WFC Settings.
QUICK TIP: If you're using a Nintendo DSi™, you can also access the Internet settings on the main menu by tapping the settings icon then selecting Internet.
Step 2:
On the next screen, tap Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings.
Step 3:
Tap any of the empty connections.
QUICK TIP: If you need to clear up any of your wireless profiles, tap Erase Settings under that connection. If you're using Nintendo DSi™, tap the connection then choose Clear Settings.
Step 4:
Tap Search for an Access Point.
Your device should start scanning for available networks.
Step 5:
Tap on your router's wireless network name (SSID).
Step 6:
Enter the wireless network's password using the onscreen keyboard when prompted. Tap OK once done.
QUICK TIP: If your wireless network is 
Open, you may skip this step.
NOTE: The Nintendo DS™ and DSi™ lite versions only support 
WEP security. The DSi™ can support both 
WEP and 
WPA but not WPA2.
Step 7:
Tap OK on the pop-up box to test your settings.
If you have set the appropriate settings, you should see a connection successful message. Your Nintendo DS™ or Nintendo DSi™ should now be connected to the wireless network.
