MacBook and Windows computers not charging when connected to the Belkin F4U093

The following troubleshooting tips have been found to resolve issues where your MacBook® or Windows® computer is not charging while connected to the Belkin USB-C™ Express Dock 3.1 HD (USB Type-C™), F4U093.

Tip 1: Confirm the status light on the dock while connected to the MacBook. To know more about the Belkin F4U093's light behavior, click here.

Tip 2: If the status light is not lit, try connecting the dock to a different power outlet.

Tip 3: If the status light is red, make sure you are using the USB-C cable that came with the dock and that the cable is snuggly fits into both the MacBook and the dock's ports before restarting the MacBook.

Tip 4: If the status light is still red, update your macOS® to the latest (non-beta) update. If the light is still red after updating and restarting, do the following:
Step 1:
Disconnect the dock from the MacBook.


Step 2:
Shut down the MacBook.


Step 3:
Disconnect the peripherals from the dock.


Step 4:
Disconnect the power supply from the dock.


Step 5:
Reconnect the power supply to the dock.


Step 6:
Reconnect the peripherals to the dock.


Step 7:
Reconnect the USB-C cable from the dock to the MacBook.


Step 8:
Turn the MacBook back ON.

Tip 5: If the status light is green but still not charging, update your macOS to the latest (non-Beta) update. If it's still not charging, follow the steps in Tip 4.

Tip 6: If the status light is green but still not charging, reset your System Management Controller (SMC).

Windows Computer

Tip 1: If your laptop does support third-party USB-C charging, confirm the status light on the dock while connected to the computer. To know more about the Belkin F4U093's light behavior, click here.

Tip 2: If the status light is not lit, try connecting the dock to a different power outlet.

Tip 3: If the status light is red, make sure you are using the USB-C cable that came with the dock and that the cable is fully pushed into both the computer’s USB-C port and the dock, then restart the computer. If the light is still red or if it is green but not charging, do the following:

Step 1:
Disconnect the dock from the computer.


Step 2:
Shut down the Windows computer.


Step 3:
Disconnect the peripherals from the dock.


Step 4:
Disconnect the power supply from the dock.


Step 5:
Reconnect the power supply to the dock.


Step 6:
Reconnect the peripherals to the dock.


Step 7:
Reconnect the USB-C cable from the dock to the Windows machine.


Step 8:
Turn the Windows computer back ON.

IMPORTANT: Some laptop manufacturers provide chargers that may partially support this charging feature, while others may require the use of their own proprietary laptop charger.
