Compatibility Update: Ultrawide Monitor Support

Starting on October 1, 2024, Modular SKVMs are compatible with ultrawide monitors when using DisplayPort cables referenced above.

Modular SKVMs automatically scale back to 30 Hz when they detect resolutions with predefined timing (e.g., 3440×1440) or any resolution above 50 Hz. For example, a 4K @ 60 Hz display will revert to 4K @ 30 Hz. No cable change or revision is required.

Note: This scaling behavior applies to all Belkin Modular SKVMs when used with HDMI cables, regardless of production date.

Identifying Production Date by Serial Number

Use the following example to determine if an SKVM was produced on or after October 1, 2024:

SKUExample Serial NumberHow to Determine Production DateExample Serial Numbers
F1DN104MOD-BA-440A10D89E14813Serial numbers produced Oct 2024 or later contain:
  • A, B, or C before E (e.g., AE, BE, CE)
  • A letter or number before F, G, or H (e.g., 1F, AF)
The 6th digit from the end indicates the year (E = 2024, F = 2025).
The 7th digit indicates the month (1–9 = Jan–Sep, A–C = Oct–Dec).

Units Produced Before October 1, 2024

If the Modular SKVM was produced before October 1, 2024 and used with the DisplayPort cables listed above:

  • The Modular SKVM limits resolutions when pixel clock rates exceed supported display range. Internal EDID manipulation scales back to the next supported resolution and timing.
  • If the SKVM encounters an unknown timing, it reverts to a default output of 1920 × 1080 @ 60 Hz to maintain operation.
  • Displays supporting 3440 × 1440 @ 75 Hz or higher are not supported and will scale down automatically.

Deployment Recommendations

When developing a secure desktop solution, please consider the following:

  • Ensure all relevant firmware for docks, displays, and hosts is up-to-date.
  • Consult docking station manuals to confirm supported resolutions and bandwidths.
  • Review native refresh rates of displays. For example, a 100 Hz native display may need to be adjusted for 30 Hz operation.
  • Ensure DPMST ports support DP Alt Mode.
