This article is related to using a Belkin Modular SKVM SKU above with one of the following DisplayPort cables:

F1DN1MOD-HC-P06

F1DN2MOD-HC-DP6

F1DN2MOD-HC-P01

F1DN2MOD-HC-HP6

Starting on October 1, 2024, Modular SKVMs are compatible with ultrawide monitors when using DisplayPort cables referenced above:

Modular SKVMs scale back automatically to 30 Hz when they receive a resolution with a predefined timing (3440x1440) a any resolution greater than 50 Hz. For example, if a 4K at 60 Hz display is plugged in, the Modular SKVM will revert it to 4K at 30 Hz. No change/revision is required to the existing cable.

*Please note that this occurs for all Belkin Modular SKVMs when used with HDMI cables, regardless of production date.

Please reference the following example to determine if an SKVM will be produced on October 1, 2024, or later.

Example Serial Number

How to determine if the serial number was produced in October or later?

Examples of serial numbers

F1DN104MOD-BA-4

40A10D89E14813

The following are produced Oct. 2024 or later: any serial number with A, B, or C in front of E (e.g., AE, BE, CE) and any serial number with a letter or number in front of F, G, or H (e.g., 1F, AF). For reference: the 6th digit from the end of the serial number is the year. E is 2024. F is 2025. The 7th digit from the end of the serial number is the month. 1-9 is Jan-Sept. A-C is Oct-Dec.

If the Modular SKVM was produced prior to October 1, 2024 and is used with the DisplayPort cables referenced above.

  • The Belkin Modular SKVM was designed to limit resolutions at pixel clock rates above a certain display. When a resolution above the supported pixel clock bandwidth is detected, an EDID manipulation internal to the SKVM scales back to the next supported resolution and timing.
  • When the Modular SKVM encounters an input timing it doesn't recognize, it automatically reverts to a default output of 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz. This ensures the device continues functioning, albeit at a lower resolution and refresh rate.
  • Displays that natively support 3440x1440 at refresh rates higher than 60 hz (e.g., 75 Hz, 100 Hz, etc.) are not supported. The SKVM follows the same retiming logic and scales down to the next supported timing.

When developing a secure desktop solution, please consider the following:

  • All relevant firmware for all products (i.e., dock, displays, hosts, etc.) must be updated according to manufacturers’ latest releases.
  • If a dock is integrated into the setup, docking station user manuals should be consulted to confirm supported display resolutions and bandwidths.
  • Native Hz resolutions of the display(s). For example, a display that supports 100 Hz natively may present a compatibility issue with a product designed to support 30 Hz. This may require settings to be adjusted.
  • DPMST ports must support DP Alt-mode.
