Wemo Support Ending – What You Need to Know

After careful consideration, Belkin has made the decision to discontinue Wemo cloud services and app support for select Wemo products effective January 31, 2026.

 

After this date, the Wemo app and all cloud-based features—including remote access and voice assistant integrations (Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant)—will no longer function for affected products.

 


 

What Is Changing

 

As technology evolves, we must reallocate resources across the Belkin portfolio. As a result:

 

  • The Wemo cloud service will be shut down on January 31, 2026
  • The Wemo app will no longer function or receive updates
  • Remote access and voice assistant integrations will stop working
  • New setup or reconfiguration via the Wemo app or HomeKit will not be possible after this date

 


 

What Will Continue to Work

 

  • Apple HomeKit:

Wemo products that are already configured with Apple HomeKit before January 31, 2026 will continue to function through the Apple Home app without Wemo cloud services.

  • Thread-based Wemo products:

Thread-enabled Wemo devices will continue to function through HomeKit as they do today.

 

Important:

After January 31, 2026, you will no longer be able to set up a Wemo device with Apple HomeKit. If you plan to continue using your device with HomeKit, it must be configured before this date.

 


 

Warranty and Refunds

 

If your Wemo product is still under warranty on or after January 31, 2026, you may be eligible for a refund.

 

 


 

Frequently Asked Questions

 

When will my Wemo devices stop working?

 

On January 31, 2026, cloud-dependent features—including the Wemo app, remote access, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant—will stop working.

 

Devices configured with Apple HomeKit before this date may continue to function locally via HomeKit.

 


 

Will anything change before January 31, 2026?

 

No. Until January 31, 2026, affected Wemo products will continue to function normally, including access through the Wemo app and third-party integrations.

 


 

What happens after January 31, 2026?

 

After the shutdown:

 

  • The Wemo app will no longer function
  • Cloud-based features will no longer work
  • Devices not configured with HomeKit will lose smart functionality

 

HomeKit-configured and Thread-based devices will continue to function locally.

 


 

What happens to the Wemo app?

 

The Wemo app will no longer be updated after January 31, 2026 and may be manually removed from your device.

 


 

Can I still get technical support?

 

Belkin will provide technical support for Wi-Fi-based Wemo products through January 31, 2026.

 


 

Can I continue using Alexa or Google Home?

 

No. These services rely on cloud connectivity. Once the Wemo cloud service is shut down, voice assistant integrations will no longer function.

 


 

What should I do with devices that no longer work?

 

  • If compatible and configured, continue using the device via Apple HomeKit
  • If not compatible or out of warranty, Belkin recommends disposal through an authorized e-waste recycling center
