1.  What is the Belkin QODE™ Ultimate Pro Keyboard Case for iPad Air (App enabled), F5L171?

The Belkin QODE™ Ultimate Pro Keyboard Case for iPad Air (App enabled), F5L171 is a Bluetooth® Smart, rechargeable, ultra slim and well-designed keyboard case.  The detachable cover keeps the back of the iPad® protected and gives the user the option to type in portrait or landscape mode.  Smart Sensing technology will automatically turn on the keyboard when the iPad is attached or in standalone mode.  To know more about this keyboard case, click here.

IMPORTANT:  Before using your Belkin QODE Keyboard, make sure to disconnect the Bluetooth devices previously connected to it.  Also, if the keyboard layout of your device is different from that of your Hardware Keyboard, you must change the keyboard language to update the output.  Modifying only the iPad or mobile phone language will not change the keyboard output.  For more information on how to change this on your Android™ device, click here.  For more information on how to change this on your iOS device, click here.


2.  How do I set up my Belkin F5L171?

First, place the iPad Air® in the iPad cover portion of the Belkin F5L171.  Line up the iPad camera, power switch, and volume buttons with the holes in the cover.  For landscape typing, place the exposed iPad section on one of the rubber strips above the keyboard and attach the magnetic hinge behind the iPad.  For portrait typing, place the iPad cover vertically (with the iPad Home button below) on one of the rubber strips above the keyboard and attach the magnetic hinge behind the iPad.

4.  Does the Belkin F5L171 have an automatic ON/ OFF switch?
 
The Belkin F5L171 is equipped with Smart Sensing technology that automatically turns the keyboard ON / OFF when the iPad is attached in typing mode.  Additionally, Smart Sensing technology turns the keyboard ON when you want to use it as a standalone keyboard.  It is best to use the Ultimate Pro on a hard, flat surface to ensure it performs as designed.
 
5.  Can I use my Belkin F5L171 as a standalone keyboard?

Yes, the Belkin F5L171 can be used as a standalone keyboard.  To trigger the Smart Sensing, fold the fabric underneath the keyboard where it will magnetically attach to the bottom of the keyboard.  When attached correctly, you will see the light turn ON.

6.  How many devices can I connect with the Belkin F5L171 and how can I switch between devices?

The Belkin F5L171 can pair with two devices.  After pairing both devices, you can switch between devices by pressing:
  • Function plus Delete (Fn + Delete) for device 1
  • Function plus = (Fn + =) for device 2
NOTE:  Holding either of these key combinations for more than 5 seconds will clear the memory slot and you will have to pair the keyboard again with the device.

8.  I am having trouble pairing my Belkin F5L171, what should I do?

If you are having trouble pairing, start by clearing all Ultimate Keyboards from the iPad Bluetooth memory slots.  To do this, select the device and select Forget This Device and then turn the iPad Bluetooth OFF.  Clear all memory slots on the Ultimate Pro Keyboard by holding the four corner keys (iOS Home Key, Function, Delete, right arrow) for 5 seconds.  The keyboard will then enter pairing mode for memory slot 1 after clearing.  Turn the iPad Bluetooth ON and attempt to pair again.

9.  What does the light of the Belkin F5L171 indicate?
 
The light of the Belkin F5L171 indicates the following conditions:

 
i. During connection
  • Pairing Mode – Blue/Purple light will flash quickly twice every second for 30 seconds.
  • Re-connecting – Blue/Purple light will flash once every second.
  • Connected – Blue/Purple light will stay solid for 2 seconds.
  • Cleaned up pairing list – Light will flash twice and then will turn OFF.
ii. Battery indicating
  • Low battery – Red light will turn ON.
  • Charging – Red light will remain ON until charging complete.
​Since the Ultimate Pro Keyboard can pair with two devices, the light color will indicate which memory slot you are currently trying to pair with. 

If the light is showing blue, you are pairing device 1.
If the light is showing purple, you are pairing device 2.

 
10.  How do I charge or recharge my Belkin F5L171?

You can recharge your keyboard using the provided micro USB cable.  The light indicator will show red when charging and will turn off once the keyboard is fully charged.

The active battery life is 60 weeks with 2 hours of daily usage with the backlight OFF.

To remove your iPad from the cover, detach the cover from the keyboard and hold the cover (with iPad) with the speaker side facing up.  With the iPad facing you, place your thumbs on the corners closest to the speakers and push the cover forward, away and off of your iPad.
