8. Can the Belkin CAA006 display my device's battery status when not plugged into a power supply?

No. The Belkin CAA006 can only show the charging status when it is charging a device. The cable must be connected to a USB-C power source such as a computer or USB-C charger and an iOS device to show the charging status.
