Repairing internet connection using Windows network diagnostics

Windows® operating systems (OS) have built-in troubleshooting diagnostics that will allow you to detect the problems that you are experiencing with your network.  This article will show you how to repair the internet connection using the built-in Windows network diagnostics.

Important things to remember

Step 1:     
Press the Windows User-added image key D on your keyboard to show the Desktop.


Step 2: 
Right-click on the connectivity icon on the system tray of your desktop.

Step 3: 
Select Troubleshoot problems.

Windows will now perform troubleshooting steps to fix your connection.  Wait for the confirmation stating that the repair has been successful.

Important things to remember
 
Windows Network Diagnostics is unable to repair network connection
 
Depending on the type of operating system that you are using, you may encounter an error message regarding the Network Diagnostics tool.
