Connecting your iPhone® to a Wi-Fi with disabled SSID Broadcast

When a Wi-Fi is not visible in the list of available networks for your wireless device to connect, its SSID Broadcast may be disabled.  Disabling the SSID Broadcast of a Belkin router is another way of keeping your network secure because it hides your Wi-Fi from other wireless devices.

This article will provide you with instructions on how to connect your iPhone® to a Wi-Fi with disabled SSID Broadcast.  The steps here may also be used if you want to connect to the Wi-Fi using an iPod®.  Before you begin, make sure you know your Wi-Fi name and password.  To know how to check the wireless settings of your Belkin router, click here.

Step 1:
Tap User-added image on the iPhone’s main screen.

Step 2:

Step 9:
After you join the network, you'll see a check mark before the network name and a Wi-Fi icon in the upper-left side of your screen.

Your wireless device should now be connected to the Wi-Fi.

If you are still unable to connect your wireless device to the Wi-Fi, try the following:
  • Ensure that the MAC Filtering feature of your router is disabled.  A MAC filtered Wi-Fi only allows the registered MAC addresses of devices to connect to it.
  • Ensure that you entered the correct password.
  • If you have changed the password of your Wi-Fi, tap the arrow sign next to the Wi-Fi name you are connecting to, then select Forget this network.  You may try reconnecting your mobile device to the network using the new password.
  • You can also reset your network settings.  On your iPhone or iPod, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
  • Restart your wireless device and try reconnecting to the Wi-Fi.
If you are still encountering issues when attempting to connect your device(s) to the Wi-Fi, see your device’s documentation or contact your device’s manufacturer support for further assistance.
