Step 2:
Verify if your computer is getting an Internet connection by accessing a website.

QUICK TIP:  Some modems have USB ports that are configured by the ISP to connect your computer to the Internet.  If your Internet connection goes through a USB port, you will not be able to go online using an Ethernet connection.  Contact your ISP if you want this feature in your modem.

Connect the devices together

Before connecting the modem to the router, unplug first the modem and the router from the power source.

Step 1:
Connect your cable modem to the WAN or Internet port of the router.

Step 2:
Plug in your modem and then your router to the power source.

Step 3:
Connect the computer to any of the Ethernet ports (1, 2, 3 or 4) of your router.  If you are using a wireless computer, you will need to connect it first with an Ethernet cable.

NOTE:  In this example, a computer is connected to port number 2.
