Why is the status light blinking on my Wemo device?

The normal behavior for the status light on a Wemo® device is NOT lit.  This means that the Wemo is functioning normally.  A blinking status light signifies that there is something with your Wemo device that needs attention.  Below are the blinking status light behaviors that your Wemo device might indicate.

Wemo device
White
  • Starting up:  If a Wemo device is turned ON or reset, it will blink white.
  • Updating firmware:  If you initiated a firmware update for your Wemo, it will blink white to show that it is currently updating.

Green
  • Starting up:  If a Wemo device is turned ON or reset, it will blink green.

Blue
  • Setup mode:  If you just plugged in a brand new Wemo or reset your Wemo device to factory defaults, it will blink blue to signify it is ready to be set up.

Green and orange
  • Setup mode:  If you just plugged in a brand new Wemo or reset your Wemo device to factory defaults, it will blink green and orange to signify it is ready to be set up.

Orange and white
  • Setup mode:  If you just plugged in a brand new Wemo or reset your Wemo device to factory defaults, it will blink orange and white to signify it is ready to be set up.

White/blue/red
  • Restart/reset/reboot option:  Press and hold the light bar underneath the ON/OFF button until the light changes to the desired action.  You may need to remove the faceplate of the bar.

Red
  • Cannot connect to Wi-Fi:  If the Wemo is blinking red, it is having difficulty connecting to your Wi-Fi.

Orange
  • Cannot connect to Wi-Fi:  If the Wemo is blinking orange, it is having difficulty connecting to your Wi-Fi.
