Qi2 wireless charging is the latest standard in wireless charging. It allows for up to 15W of power and magnetic alignment.
Qi wireless charging uses electromagnetic induction between two coils -- one in the charging pad and one in the device -- to transfer power wirelessly. The pad generates a magnetic field when powered, which induces a current in the device's coil, charging its battery. Proper alignment and Qi certification ensure efficient and standardized charging across compatible devices, offering convenience without the need for cables. Learn more here.

MagSafe and Qi2 are both wireless charging technologies that use magnets to enhance charging efficiency and speed. Qi2 is the latest generation of the Qi standard, which is a universal wireless charging standard for mobile devices. While MagSafe is exclusively available for Apple users, Qi2 is compatible with a wide range of brands. Learn more here.
Qi2 is the latest open wireless charging standard and functions similarly to MagSafe. It is already supported on Samsung Galaxy S25 / S26, Google Pixel 10, OnePlus 13, and HMD Skyline, making it a more universal choice across brands. With Qi2 25W (also called Qi2.2), supported devices can charge at up to 25W — the same maximum offered by Apple's fastest wireless ecosystem. Learn more here.
Qi2 wireless charging is a separate charging technology that functions similar to MagSafe. However, Qi2 is not MagSafe. Given their similarities, Qi2 products may claim to be MagSafe compatible but it is important to check that your device is Qi2 certified.
Qi2 offers three core features: magnetic alignment for a secure snap-on connection, fast wireless charging up to 15W on the original Qi2 spec and up to 25W on the newer Qi2 25W (Qi2.2) spec, and universal compatibility across iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, OnePlus, and HMD devices.
Qi tops out at 7.5W on iPhone and 10W on most Samsung phones, with no built-in magnetic alignment. Qi2 adds the Magnetic Power Profile (magnetic snap-on alignment) and raises the maximum to 15W. Qi2 25W (also called Qi2.2) is the newest revision, raising the maximum to 25W on iPhone 16 and later, Galaxy S26 Ultra, and Pixel 10 Pro XL.
Yes. If a product claims to be Qi2 certified it will utilize magnets.
The Qi2 25W spec (also called Qi2.2) tops out at 25W on iPhone 16 and later (iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max), Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, and Google Pixel 10 Pro XL.
A 20W tier covers iPhone Air and Galaxy S26+. Most other Qi2 phones (iPhone 12-15, Galaxy S25 / S26 / S26+, Pixel 10 / 10 Pro / 10 Pro Fold) charge at up to 15W on a Qi2 charger.
The original Qi2 spec tops out at 15W.
To use a Qi2 charger, simply place the center back of your Qi2-enabled smartphone against the charging pad. The magnetic function of the charger and phone will create a sturdy hold. Once the Qi2 charger is plugged in, it will immediately start charging your phone.
Faster wireless charging generates more heat, and heat can trigger thermal throttling that slows charging and adds wear to the battery over time. ChillBoost™ Cooling is Belkin's passive cooling technology that reduces heat†† and protects battery during charging on Qi2 25W chargers. The Magnetic Charger with Qi2 25W is the first Belkin charger with ChillBoost.
†† Charging technology designed for enhanced heat dissipation. Actual temperatures will vary based on device, usage and environment.
